World History for Young People: Western Edition
World History for Young People: Western Edition
Description
Book Introduction
An entertaining history book that vividly portrays key moments in world history.

"Let's create a book that's easy and fun for students to read on their own, a book that can replace textbooks." The author, who teaches history at a middle school, decided to write a book after experiencing an entire class period disappearing just by explaining terminology to students.
This is how "World History for Young People: Western Edition" was born. It has been a steady seller in the world history field for over 10 years since its publication, and with this revision, its solid core has been reborn in a new form.
Explanations and visual aids tailored to the level of young people, along with a theme-centered structure, vividly recreate key scenes from world history, making studying world history even more enjoyable.

Publisher's Review
1.
Discover Western history stories tailored to the needs of young people.
World history, especially Western history, uses grammar that is unfamiliar to most people.
Long, unfamiliar names that all seem similar, place names that are impossible to locate, and countless incidents where all of this is mixed together.
As a result, Western history books were written only in Korean and were completely incomprehensible to young people.
This revised edition, based on the author's experience working with youth in school settings, maintains the overall flow and key content of the first edition, but completely overhauls everything else.
It was rewritten in short, concise sentences for young people who are accustomed to implicit and quick communication due to the influence of smartphones.
Additionally, we tried to stimulate the interest of young people who are accustomed to visual stimulation by including more visual content than any other book.
This includes maps that allow a glance at the changes in Western history, which influenced each other more closely than any other region in the world due to geographical proximity, vivid photographs that capture the glory once enjoyed at the center of the world, and illustrations that appeal to the sensibilities of young people.
With this book, those who begin studying world history will be able to easily overcome the high hurdle they inevitably face.

2.
Organize the vast world history systematically by topic
Korean history has been receiving a lot of attention since it was designated as a required subject in 2017.
In contrast, world history remains an elective subject in high school and is difficult to learn properly through the regular curriculum alone.
Although we raise our voices to 'build the knowledge of global citizens to keep pace with the era of globalization,' in reality, world history education is not keeping up with this, making systematic study difficult.

This book is organized by topic to enable a systematic and dynamic study of world history.
Basically, it is a chronological order of prehistoric times, ancient society, medieval society, modern society, and contemporary society, but it does not simply follow the flow of time.
This course examines various aspects of the era, focusing on themes such as how the migration of peoples in Europe shaped the European world of today, what was the driving force behind Europe's leap into modernity, and how the civil revolution laid the foundation for democracy.
The topic-centered structure allows you to understand the core concepts that have permeated the eras through the flow of time, rather than forcing a world history timeline into your head for memorization.

3.
The 'History for Youth' series is even more interesting when viewed alongside textbooks.
The 'History Series for Youth' is a history book written by current history teachers to systematically and organically cover the history that young people must know, allowing them to understand the entire history at a glance.
This is the second book, following “Korean History for Youth” published in October 2013, and “World History for Youth: Western Edition” published this time.
Next, “World History for Youth: East Asia” and “Modern and Contemporary History for Youth” are scheduled to be published.

The 'History Series for Youth' presents Eastern and Western history, which was not properly covered in textbooks or easily passed over in class, at a level that is accessible to young people.
The abundance of photographs, maps, and illustrations that help you understand the content add to the enjoyment of reading the entire series.
This is a youth history education series that is easier than textbooks and more interesting when read together with textbooks.
