Publisher's Review
From classical Korean novels to modern Korean novels and world-famous novels.
Let's get a glimpse of the diverse works through the [Opening Literature] series!

The literary anthology series [(My First Literature Class) Opening Literature] (6 volumes in total) has been published by Spoon Book, which includes a selection of Korean classic novels, world short stories, and modern Korean novels from the birth of modern novels in Korea to the present day, works included in middle and high school Korean language textbooks for the 2015 curriculum, works tested on the college entrance exam, and works worthy of being remembered in literary history.

If you enjoy reading literary works, you will understand the textbook literature in one go.

The [Opening Literature] series consists of a total of six volumes.
Volumes 1-4 are the best modern Korean novels, Volume 5 is the best world classic novels, and Volume 6 is the best classic Korean novels. By selecting representative works in each field and listing them in chronological order of publication, the book was planned to allow readers to understand not only the uniqueness of each work but also the flow of literary history.
Additionally, each work was modified to match modern spacing for readability, but the original text was preserved as much as possible without damaging the use of contemporary vocabulary and the author's individual expressions. In the case of vocabulary that requires additional interpretation, footnotes were provided to supplement the understanding of the meaning.
Especially in the current situation where the importance of nuclear power plants is emphasized, such materials help immerse oneself in the work by vividly recreating the situation at the time.
And detailed additional explanations for vocabulary that is difficult to understand will effectively enhance understanding of the work.

Includes 96 Eastern and Western novels aligned with the revised textbooks.

The 96 works in [Opening Literature] have already been recognized for their literary and artistic qualities and have been included in textbooks or tested on the College Scholastic Ability Test and mock exams conducted by the Evaluation Institute.
It includes works by representative Korean literary authors such as Kim Yu-jeong, Lee Tae-jun, Lee Sang, Park Ji-won, and Kim Si-seup, as well as works by world-renowned authors such as Mark Twain, O. Henry, and Albert Camus, as well as works by young authors such as Kim Ae-ran, Choi Eun-young, and Seong Seok-je, so that middle and high school students can perfectly prepare for their school grades and college entrance exams.

The 96 works included are, on the one hand, works that clearly display the characteristics of each branch and their social, cultural, and historical backgrounds, and on the other hand, masterpieces of the East and the West that are touching and entertaining because they honestly reveal the author's life, experiences, and emotions, and that contain exploration and reflection on life while dealing with personal growth.
Therefore, in the works included in this book, young people will encounter a variety of faces, from Western youth consumed by worldly desires, to Chinese women disguised as men and roaming the enemy's territory, to modern-day Korean college students living in poverty in semi-basement apartments. Through these faces, I hope to experience a new, deep, and broad literary experience.
