Reading High School Novels Starting with Textbooks, Volume 1
Description
Book Introduction
Teachers from the National Korean Language Teachers Association read together novels included in nine high school Korean language textbooks for grades 1 and 2, and compiled the content of their discussions.
- Ask questions about the world and find answers through reading novels.
According to the revised 2022 curriculum, there are nine common Korean language 1 and 2 textbooks that high school first-year students will learn from 2025.
The novels included in the nine textbooks are representative modern Korean novels that are good for not only high school students, but also middle school students who enjoy reading novels and the general public who want to start reading novels.
Teachers from the National Association of Korean Language Teachers read together with students, following the reading activity method they use with students at school, asking questions about things they were curious about, discussing these questions together, and then writing a Q&A based on the content of the conversation.
If readers of this book also ask questions and seek answers for themselves, their perspective on the world will broaden and their understanding will grow.
And, because textbooks are limited in space, it is regrettable that only excerpts from the novel can be read, so we tried to include the full novel if possible.
You can find the full text of 11 novels, excluding one full-length novel and two novels requested by the copyright holder.

Into the book
No matter how meaningful reading a novel is, it can be difficult to extract meaning from the work.
When reading a novel, you may have had the experience of understanding the plot but having no idea what the main idea was.
That's because you haven't been trained to 'read novels' yet.
I hope that those of you who have made the precious promise to "read textbook novels!" will not be discouraged by the unexpected hurdles, and I have compiled this commentary.
The commentary is written in a question-and-answer format to help readers understand the message the author is conveying to them.
I hope you find it a caring guide.
I hope this book will serve to more clearly reveal the lineage of relay running between 'writer - teacher - reader.'
The moment you look at the world and tilt your head in confusion, the moment you doubt yourself because you feel like you are the only one who is weird and maladjusted to society, if you look at this genealogy and cultivate a heart that values 'sensitivity', you will be incredibly happy.
In that sense, this article is an invitation to join the "quiet yet bustling solidarity" formed by those who are sensitive to the dark side of the world.
