Into the book
“I don’t eat potatoes, you eat them.”
Without even turning my head, I pushed the potato back over my shoulder with my working hand.
But even then, there was no sign of going, and not only that, the breathing became increasingly rough and ragged.
I was wondering what was going on, so I turned around and looked back, and I was truly surprised.
We've been coming to this village for almost three years now, but never before has Jeomsoon's face turned so red as a carrot.
And then he put poison in his eyes and glared at me like this for a while, and then he even started to cry.

--- From the text "Camellia (Kim Yu-jeong)"

Wan extended both hands containing marum berries towards New New.
But New New didn't reach out.
Wan quietly placed the marum fruit at Newnyu's feet, then turned around and walked towards the river.
New New just stood there motionless, looking at his slender back.
Wan's eyes, holding the red bottle gourd, seemed to be filled with an inexplicable sincerity.
New New slowly knelt down and held the lotus leaf in both hands.
At that moment, Wan's eyes lit up with emotion.

Publisher's Review
Editor's Note

We create stories, big and small, every day.
Arguments with friends, disagreements with family, even moments when I was anxious without realizing it.
Stories exist everywhere in our lives.
But the 'story' we commonly think of is not simply a list of events.
The story unfolds coherently through composition, adds depth through conflict, and moves the reader's heart.

This book contains novels with various conflicts and plots.
In each work, the characters face conflicts, sometimes resolving them, sometimes leaving them with deeper concerns, such as unexpected endings to long-held promises, misunderstandings arising from a lack of mutual understanding, and confusion and realizations experienced during the process of growing up.

As you read the story, observe how the novel is structured and how the conflict develops and is resolved.
Also, follow the characters' choices and ask yourself, "What would I do?"
If you follow along step by step, you will soon find yourself growing along with the characters in the story.
