Into the book
It's not necessary to write about a special experience to become a poem.
Just write about your small, everyday experiences.
But because of the pressure on myself, or because the teacher asked me to write something special, or because of the performance evaluation score, I keep trying to find something different.
No matter how much I think about it, it doesn't exist.
It's not too late to write about those things after you've gained a lot of experience in life.
So what's important for teenagers right now? Learning how to express themselves.
There are many different ways of expressing oneself in poetry.

--- p.34

We'll also try writing a short poem of one or two lines.
"One or two lines" sounds like it would be easy, right? Nope.
This might be the most difficult part.
You have to put everything you want to say into that short sentence.
And it can't be ordinary.
Just think about internet comments.
I'm talking about the comments that are recommended by many people and are at the top of the comments, commonly called 'best comments'.
When I look at those comments, there are many that are relatable to everyone, but are also unique and original.
--- p.97

Games are also a collection of imagination.
You can experience things that are only possible in your imagination through characters or avatars.
In the game, we can explore mysterious ruins that don't exist in reality or pilot spaceships.
You can fight vicious monsters, swing powerful swords, or use magic.
There are so many cases, so I'll keep it simple.
The question is whether you simply enjoy the game or make that imagination your own.

--- p.143~144

Riddles are always fun.
(...) Poetry is also a mystery.
To put it a bit exaggeratedly, it's a 'high-level puzzle'.
The answer is hidden in a metaphor or symbol and the reader is left to find it.
(...) Let's incorporate this mystery into our daily lives.
Many of you reading this book are probably using social media. On social media, people often post photos and stories about their past or current situation.
Now, let's try writing a diary about what happened that day on SNS.
I'm borrowing the expression of poetry.

--- p.163

To look deeply into things and write poetry, you need to know them well.
So what do I know best? It's 'the things I like.'
It is said that the best way to start writing poetry is to start with something you like.
When I talk about it, my words tend to become more specific.
Because I can describe that attribute in more detail than anyone else.

Unique Poetry Writing Class

“Poetry is difficult.” “Why on earth should I write poetry?” Teenagers who have developed an awkward, if not difficult, relationship with poetry.
But those who cheer for the amazing rhymes of hip-hop lyrics and are crazy about short social media posts and internet memes are also teenagers.
Are there really differences between poetry and hip-hop lyrics? Why do teenagers have such a distant relationship with poetry? The answer lies in the "method of approach."
The author is a middle school Korean language teacher and poet who has taught children for over 10 years.
While running a creative writing club for middle school boys who were not interested in writing, I tried various methods and went through trial and error to develop a unique and effective poetry writing class method.

So, this book is free of any difficult literary terms or textbook-like approaches.
It's full of activities that anyone can easily follow, such as writing poetry while playing a board game, playing a game where you write hip-hop lyrics, writing one-liners like internet comments, and even writing about a favorite subject or hobby.
Through these activities, students who discovered the joy of creation wrote several excellent poems that would even impress established poets.
This book is rich in examples of student writing, making it a valuable reference for young people who are struggling with writing.
This guide is useful not only for students who want to escape the burden of writing, students who want to better express their thoughts, but also for teachers who need systematic guidelines for writing classes.

Exams, diets, fandom... all of these become poetry?
A variety of examples based on daily life
Includes useful emotional words for writing

Chapter 1 explains what poetry is, why we should write poetry, and how poetry is not as difficult as we think, thereby relieving the burden of poetry.
In Chapter 2, we will practice developing our expressive skills by writing sentences that come to mind, turning our daily lives upside down, and rewriting famous poems.
These are activities that first establish the basic skills needed for writing.
Chapter 3 proposes a more in-depth approach to poetry writing through free play.
You can discover the joy of writing poetry and feel a sense of accomplishment through activities that are more like play than studying.
