Jo Yong-heon's Taoist Chronicles
Description
Book Introduction
In this age of science, why do we turn our attention to the world of Taoism and sorcery?
There is a mysterious wisdom beyond reason and logic!
Who are Taoists? They are those who look into fate as if it were a mirror.
Their specialty is predicting the future, and they possess supernatural powers as well as medicine, scholarship, and fortune telling.
Everyone has times in life when they hit rock bottom and reach a dead end.
I feel like I want to grab onto even a straw, but there is no one around me to help.
We have lived our lives to the best of our ability, but when we can no longer rely on logic and reason, we begin to listen to the providence of heaven.
There are Taoists there who can help us unravel our life's story and offer unexpected solutions.
What should we do? Why not step into the world of Taoists?
This book, 『Jo Yong-heon's Taoist Biographies』, is full of mysterious and interesting stories that author Jo Yong-heon, a scholar of oriental medicine who has studied literature, history, philosophy, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, astronomy, geography, and humanities for over 40 years, heard and experienced firsthand while interacting with hidden Taoist masters in the martial arts world.
In an age dominated by science, there are still many difficult problems in life that cannot be solved with reason and logic.
You must be able to see the principles and workings of the invisible world.
The answer lies in the Taoist priests' teachings.
Yeongbal is an intuitive insight that comes from the ‘spirit.’
The prophetic powers of Taoist priests who have mastered the Book of Changes, four pillars of destiny, feng shui, physiognomy, past life, spiritual contact, and dream interpretation come to us as a bright light.
A ray of light opens the way to a life that has been stifling and bleak, and so we gain the strength and wisdom to live by breaking through the wall of darkness once again.

Epilogue | I Wanted to Become a Taoist
Into the book
There are many people who write books about the world of logic and reason.
But there aren't many people who would write a book about a world beyond logic and reason, a world of gods and spirits.
This is an area that only minorities and heretics like me can talk about.
Is there anyone among the 586 generation in their right mind who can talk about ‘Yeongbal’?
I consider myself a heretic.
Because I have been interested in God and have tried to uncover this until now.
In the process, I was subjected to a lot of contempt and ridicule.
I'm still receiving it.
The people who helped me were the scholars outside the province who practiced Taoism in the famous mountains of this land.
How can a sparrow know the mind of a great eagle?
---From the author's note
If the meaning of Maktub is 'recorded', then this can be interpreted to mean 'living according to one's destiny'.
Doesn't this mean that a person's fate is already recorded in the ledger of King Yeomra in heaven?
It means that it is predetermined.
To put it in Arabic, it means, 'You have no choice but to live according to God's will.'
If your horoscope says you will be successful, you will eventually succeed. If your horoscope says you will make a lot of money and become a millionaire, you will go through ups and downs, but the message is that you will eventually make money.
---From "A Message from the Arab Prince, Maktub"
Even the Taoists who predict people's fate each use different divination techniques.
There is a sect where, when you look at someone, their fate appears like a TV screen. It is called the TV sect.
Or there are even sects where the person's fortune is heard like a radio sound.
This is a radio station.
It may sound like you have a receiver plugged into your ear, but broadly speaking, it's in the same category as radio waves, but on a micro level, it's a little different.
---From "TV Guru, Radio Guru, Picture Book Guru"
Being in the media and receiving public attention for something bad is also a form of suffering from a tremendous amount of high voltage electricity.
If you steam it thoroughly in a pressure cooker, it will become more refined.
Blood, sweat, and tears, along with prison, bankruptcy, divorce, and cancer, are coming.
There are wilderness, deserts, and snow-capped mountains in Korea too.
It's a prison cell.
It is also the path of a Taoist priest.
---From "The Environment That Produces Taoists"
The first comment is key.
Thor, the god of thunder and lightning, subdues his opponent with his first words.
The most important point is compressed into the first sentence.
If you hit the nail on the head with these first words, the other person will quickly open up to you.
As soon as a woman in her early 40s wearing a black skirt that came down to her knees sat down on the cushion, Thor fired a save.
It was like a flash of lightning.
“I will never get caught!”
---From "The Taoist's First Words Like Lightning"
If a Taoist wants to travel the world, he must have three skills.
Medicine, scholarship, and fortune telling.
In any neighborhood where people live, there are bound to be sick people, there are bound to be people who want to learn the Thousand Character Classic (academics, study), and there is bound to be a demand to have one's fate told.
If a Taoist has these three skills, he will not starve to death wherever he goes.
It's a tremendous amount of self-reliance.
---From "Three Skills of Traveling the World"
Steve Jobs, who invented the iPhone, was a devotee of Yogananda, a master of Kriya Yoga, which is a path to receiving messages from God.
Therefore, the iPhone can also be seen as an example of a revelation from heaven manifested in a physical form.
---From "Steve Jobs and the Reception"
In the Taoist method of becoming a sage, a dark cave is said to be absolutely necessary.
Even if you are not a Taoist monk, it is good to stay in the dark at night.
If it's too bright, the soul can't rest.
If you don't rest, you'll get mental illness.
In the 20th century, cancer was a major disease, but in the 21st century, mental illness is a major disease.
Mental illness is a disease that occurs when the mind cannot rest.
To rest is to exist in darkness.
Keeping the lights off and staying in the dark at night is also a way to maintain good health.
Don't just prefer bright things.
---From "Inner energy builds up in the darkness of the cave"
The Taoist priests who stayed at the house of Taoist priest Park for several days would secretly tell the owner of the house about a good place to stay in exchange for lodging expenses.
There was a story that there was a geomantic site of the year of Eulhae behind the village.
There was a geomantic site where the veins of the rocks of Geungnakbong came down in various directions in the shape of the letter 'Gal-ji' and converged in front of a small pond.
At first glance, this place looked ordinary and was a place only experts could see.
A high-level person draws the extraordinary out of the ordinary.
(Page 223, from ‘The high-ranking official draws the extraordinary from the ordinary’)
“If sexual orgasm is called ecstasy, there is a different type of instasy.
The joy felt when the inner yin and yang energies meet each other can be seen as instacy.
It is a pleasure about 70 times stronger than ecstasy.
The Taoist feels this instability every day.
If ecstasy requires a man and a woman to unite, instacy does not require external union.
It's an internal coupling.
It's much more freeing, but the pleasure is stronger.
Which one is more efficient?
---From "How to Endure Color"
Ghosts are also a bundle of thoughts.
These emotions and thoughts, such as obsession, regret, foolishness, and desire, become entangled and become ghosts.
Taoists do not have this kind of obsession.
Since there is no such thing, the lump can be melted.
A first-class Taoist is able to dismantle the mass of thoughts because his mind is free from distracting thoughts.
---From "Treatment of Diseases That Cause Ghost Possession"
As we live in this world, there are times when we find ourselves in desperate and isolated situations where no one can help us.
In this desperate situation, there must be a hill to climb.
That's witchcraft.
I believe that sorcery is the last resort for those who have reached a dead end with nowhere to go.
---From "The Path of Magic"
Edison's great inventions were not achieved through hard work.
Although he said it was '99% perspiration and 1% inspiration', this doesn't seem to be an honest statement.
Conversely, 99% of the work is inspiration, and 1% is effort.
The inspiration came from reception.
It was the divine world that inspired Edison.
The operation of that divine realm is often the result of cultivation from a previous life.
These people are people who have undergone rigorous training and studied a lot since their previous lives.
---From “The Five Types of Supernatural Powers”
“Did you know just by looking at the new employee’s face back then?”
“It doesn’t catch my eye.
Look at the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, chin, and finally listen to the voice.
In men's physiognomy, the eyes are the focal point.
First, check if there is any regularity in the eyes.
If your eyes sparkle, you have a high IQ and a gun.
We have to consider that there is willpower as well.
Willpower includes drive and perseverance.
“If someone is smart and has good drive and perseverance, then it is clear that they are talented.”
---From "Lee Byung-chul's Young-bal Management"
The area that Napoleon looked at most when selecting his subordinates was the nose.
The story goes that if your nose is ugly, you don't get it pulled out.
If the nose is tall and straight, it is considered to be a good choice.
He gave the order to 'charge forward', and his handsome subordinate charged as ordered.
A subordinate with a sunken nose can be thrown backwards.
If you run away in close combat, the battle will be ruined.
---From “Physiognomy, Observing Forms and Colors”
Life is something where you have to open your eyes to survive.
He became blind from being burned by a cigarette butt, but his misfortune did not stop.
It is said that one day Baek Woon-hak left home and went missing.
He was murdered.
A Taoist does not stay in the world for too long.
If you have money, you should take it and run away to the mountains.
Jumping into the mountains is a Taoist.
---From "The Fate of the Taoist Who Knows the Future"
“My husband wants to buy a house at the bottom of a mountain that he doesn’t need. What should I do?”
“Please buy it.
My husband had a connection with the mountain god Hyeongjebong in his previous life.
So, if you live under the Brothers Peak, good things will happen.”
“What good things are happening?”
“It is my job to carry out my husband’s orders.
“Life is short, but if you buy that house, you will extend it.”

Publisher's Review
Taoist priests, those who look into fate like a mirror
A mysterious and wise way to interpret life
As we go through life, we realize small wisdoms.
You may realize things in your 40s that you didn't know in your 30s, and after going through a crisis that was so difficult that you thought you would die, you may look at the world with a much more relaxed mind.
Because it becomes visible when you look back.
But reality doesn't get much better.
Life is always a series of crises and dangers.
Because the days ahead are still uncertain and there is constant worry and concern.
So what if we had the ability to foresee the future? Wouldn't it be possible to live, to some extent, even in a world filled with suffering?
There are people like that.
These are people who have the power of foresight to communicate with the invisible world and foresee the future, also known as Taoists.
As the title suggests, this book, 『Jo Yong-heon's Taoist Chronicles』, is a story of Taoist priests written by Dr. Jo Yong-heon, a fortune teller and oriental medicine scholar.
The stories of Taoist priests who shaped our modern history are brought to life in the author's refreshing and lively writing style.
It covers the origins of Taoist priests, their methods of practice, and their supernatural powers in a very interesting way, but what is most outstanding is that it greatly broadens our fragmented worldview and perception through their actual activities.
The knowledge that there is a world we are unaware of, that within it lies the solution to life's problems we have so desperately sought, and that it gives us the strength to live a wiser and more peaceful life—that alone makes this book worth reading.
When life is in a life-or-death crisis
The decisive blow to life in the world of gods and spirits!
In the 20th century, cancer was a major disease, but in the 21st century, mental illness is a major disease.
Mental illness is a disease that occurs when the mind is not able to rest.
Why can't we rest? Because life has become so complex and ever-changing.
We each live our lives doing our best in our own way.
But life doesn't get any better.
The more you try your best, the more exhausted you feel, and eventually you become burned out, depressed, or lethargic.
In the visible reality, no matter how rationally you think about it, there seems to be no way to escape the suffering.
We need to change our perspective on the world.
Our lives cannot be fully explained and understood by logic and reason alone.
Sometimes, something called fate, or even chance, can be the deciding factor in life.
This is especially true when faced with a life-or-death crisis.
That which we strive to hold on to in moments when we feel blocked on all sides and unable to escape is the world of religion, the world of spirituality, and the realm of the divine.
If we assume that there is an invisible world, the scope and dimensions of life expand significantly.
As your scope of life expands, your perspective broadens, you become wiser, and your very existence becomes more peaceful.
This book, 『Jo Yong-heon's Taoist Chronicles』, tells the story of the world of Shin-i and Yeong-bal by presenting the mysterious and miraculous real-life cases of Taoist priests.
Since ancient times, when faced with problems that could not be solved through logic and reason, humans did not despair, but relied on nature and called upon God to overcome all difficulties.
When you frequently experience unexpected variables popping up and ruining things, you can't help but think deeply about luck, heaven's will, and human destiny.
It's like feeling the limits of human reason.
When reason can no longer sustain us, we begin to listen to the providence of heaven.
As you read this book, you will soon feel a mysterious power that transcends reason.
You will definitely find hints for living a good life.
A mysterious and wise way to interpret life
