Teachers dream of their classrooms becoming peaceful communities.
At the beginning of the new school year, I promise to spend the year happily with my classmates.
To this end, we make various attempts every year with hope.
We strive to lead the classroom atmosphere in a positive direction while meeting the diverse needs of students.
But I get frustrated with the recurring problem situations every year.


In order to run a peaceful classroom, it is important to establish relationships between students and between students and teachers.
To build a relationship, you need to have a conversation, and that requires opening your heart first.
Ultimately, the foundation of peaceful classroom management can be said to be opening students' hearts.
So, how can we open students' hearts? This book presents "picture books" as the answer.

Picture books are a fascinating and fun work of art where pictures and text come together to tell a story.
Sometimes, text and pictures tell the same story, enriching the story, and sometimes, pictures tell what text cannot say.
Sometimes words and pictures tell different stories.
In doing so, words and pictures concisely express life.
It would be good to find that part with the students, have a time of enlightenment, and run the class by putting it into practice without stopping there.

Five Reasons Why Picture Book Classroom Management Is So Effective
First, the text and pictures in picture books provide comfort.
If you look closely at the picture, there are many hidden messages.
The colors, the feel, the font, the sentences, and the small but important things that touch the heart until you close the picture book.
It reminds us of forgotten truths and memories of life, and the short sentences bring warmth, courage, and comfort to the reader's heart.

Second, it makes people empathize with each other.
For a classroom to be run well, the ability to empathize with each other's positions and feelings is more important than logical thinking and judgment.
Picture books allow us to empathize with others' emotions and experience comfort and pain.
Picture books are immersive because they reveal specific situations and emotions, and they allow children to express their feelings in a public yet indirect way without being hurtful.
Picture books relieve teachers of the burden of creating an emotional atmosphere and fostering empathy.


Third, community capacity grows.
When using picture books, group activities are the basis.
This is because a process of reading and sharing picture books together is necessary.
When we talk about picture books, we realize that people have different feelings and thoughts about the same text and pictures.
Here, students come to recognize their differences.
In this way, an atmosphere of easy cooperation is created.


Fourth, it restores purity.
These days, students are exposed to various media from a young age, and they find stimulating videos and texts interesting and show interest.
Picture books are beautiful, pure, and educational in their illustrations and language, but they are not trivial.
It speaks to the purest and most essential parts of life.
Through this, students can look back on the pure heart that they had momentarily forgotten.

Fifth, students' changes occur spontaneously from within.
If classroom management is teacher-led, it may appear to be well organized and run efficiently that year.
However, this only has a short-term effect and does not help students grow in the long term.
Picture books are an active learning medium that requires you to look, think, and feel for yourself.
It is based on learning to interpret text and pictures on one's own as one turns the pages and establish one's own thoughts.
If you run a class with picture books, education can be student-led.
