Into the book
There is one thing that only humans have and that AI does not.
It is ‘humanity’.
Character is a quality that only humans possess.
Confucius was the one who systematically educated and studied human nature 2,500 years ago.
In the Analects, Confucius viewed the ideas of 'benevolence, propriety, wisdom' as the source of human nature.
Perhaps that's why, with the rise of AI ethics, Confucius's ideas of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, and wisdom are resurfacing.
--- p.11
The first people to recognize Confucius's true value were not kings or nobles.
They were students.
As Confucius became known as a master of the six arts and a great teacher, many people came to him and hoped to become his disciples.
So Confucius opened a school in his own home.
Confucius accepted anyone as a student as long as they brought ten pieces of beef jerky as tuition.
At that time, schools were run by the state and only nobles could attend.
Confucius founded a school where anyone could learn, regardless of social status.
It was the first time in human history that a privately run school was created.
It was a revolution in school.
--- p.49
Jeong Do-jeon was a Confucian scholar and revolutionary from the late Goryeo and early Joseon Dynasties.
Jeong Do-jeon, who destroyed Goryeo and designed Joseon, moved the capital from Gaeseong to Seoul.
And the names of the main gates of Seoul, Dongdaemun (Heunginjimun), Seodaemun (Donuimun), Namdaemun (Sungnyemun), and Bukdaemun (Hongjimun), include Inuiyeji.
It was intended to symbolically show that Joseon was a country that followed benevolence, righteousness, propriety, and wisdom.
Even now, we see the virtues of humanity and righteousness with our own eyes and pass by them every day.
--- p.80
But as time goes by, we forget the background and purpose of its creation.
Finding the source again and integrating it anew is study, and it is learning from the past and present.
Just as to properly understand AI, you need to know the origins of AI, the people who created it.
A good student delves into any subject from the ground up.
Imagine taking a test about why Yi Seong-gye founded the Joseon Dynasty.
If you simply memorize the reasons for the founding of the country, you will quickly forget them.
However, if you study the life of Yi Seong-gye, the social circumstances of the time, and the kind of person Jeong Do-jeon was who planned the coup d'état, you will be able to vividly remember and express the reasons for the founding of Joseon.
