"The Cowherd and the Fairy" is set in a high school and tells the story of a shaman girl named Park Seong-ah who can see ghosts and a transfer student named Bae Gyeon-woo who is destined to die, and who save each other's lives through a chance encounter. This drama, a new adaptation of the popular webtoon of the same name, combines the genres of 'romance', 'occult', 'salvation narrative', and 'growth narrative', and has emerged as a true hot topic of the first half of 2025, taking first place in the TV-OTT integrated drama topicality. In particular, the unique setting that crosses between classroom and shrine, reality and fantasy, and the characters that capture the sensibilities of the MZ generation were enough to elicit a hot response immediately after the show aired. This script collection is the first official script collection by rookie writer Yang Ji-hoon, who wrote the screenplay. As the writer said, “I wanted to express all the hardships that youth experience through the genre of shamanism,” the meaning is even deeper as it contains a heavy story of anxiety, loneliness, prejudice, and discrimination experienced by “children who dream of being ordinary.” |
