Publisher's Review
A name that blossomed at the intersection of life and death
After the roar that tore through the dusk has passed and the evening is filled with silence, a frog lies on a black line.
They use all their strength to reach the pond, but only one egg survives.
In this way, Alit is born alone and faces the world.
Barely born, Alit must fight to survive from the moment she is born.
In her desperate quest for life, Alit encounters countless creatures, including the salmon Iod, the mountain goat Plonk, and the mysterious old tree Axon.
"Alit: The Story of a Little Frog" begins with the perspective of a small and fragile life form, calmly illuminating moments where life and death, fear and courage, loneliness and solidarity intersect.
Encounters with strangers are sometimes affectionate and sometimes merciless.
In the indifferent order of nature, Alit is constantly threatened with survival, and sometimes barely survives through someone's death.
But paradoxically, it is precisely these very experiences that connect Alit to the world and build up her sense of being alive, layer by layer.
The little midwife frog, who introduced herself as Alit without even knowing why she was called 'Alit', finally realizes the meaning of her name after experiencing countless lives, and faces her destiny to incubate her eggs and move forward 'so that the knot does not come undone'.
The power of nature that will never end
Jeremy Moreau's nature is full of soft circles and curves.
The rising and setting sun, the waves, the round pebbles, and even the echoes of trees swaying in the forest, the circle created by the breath of life continues and returns, forming a cycle.
On the other hand, straight lines are sudden and ruthless.
'Retalite', which divides the round world with a black straight line, has appeared.
The visual contrast between circles and straight lines directly depicts man's raw violence against nature.
Countless lives are lost on that line, and the massive force that cuts the circle seems like it will never collapse.
But nature doesn't stop there.
It fills the gap with another life and connects the broken world.
When Alit finally hatches and accepts that she must cross that black line one day, we witness the audacity of nature, the explosive vitality of life, and the power of love to set aside even fear.
