Publisher's Review
Urban Sketch (Watercolor Coloring + Pen Drawing)

Urban sketching is the process of drawing and completing on-site urban landscapes, streets, buildings, and surrounding scenery.
The 'site' referred to here can be a special travel destination, but it can also be an ordinary place where we live.

In principle, urban sketching is about drawing while breathing on site, but “Urban Sketching Practice Notes” is a book for those who want to experience and practice urban sketching before going out into the field.

The book features works on a variety of subjects, including buildings, alleys, and landscapes that we can see and encounter around us, such as people sitting in groups of three or four at a makeshift table in front of a store, the night scenery of an old store, a narrow alley with steep stairs where you can almost hear the sound of tiring footsteps, and a ginkgo tree in front of a village police station in full bloom with bright yellow leaves. It also guides you through coloring and drawing methods through tutorials so that even those who are not yet familiar with urban sketching can color and draw without difficulty.

Through this book, you can practice both “watercolor coloring” and “pen drawing” of urban sketching.

Watercolor coloring

You can refer to the tutorial to check the coloring order and precautions, and try watercolor coloring.
To make coloring easier, the finished work was colored using the most basic method rather than using various techniques. Rather than mixing colors a lot, the original colors were used as they were, and color changes were created through differences in the concentration of paint. A method of neatly filling in one side was chosen.

pen drawing

You can try sketching yourself.
It would be good to refer to the tutorial for information on how to determine the slope and eye level according to the perspective drawing method, as well as the drawing order.
If you find drawing overwhelming and difficult, the blurred underlines provided in this book will be of great help.

Spring binding

It is bound with a spring like a journal-style sketchbook to maximize convenience.
The coloring & drawing part uses thick paper suitable for watercolor coloring and pen drawing, allowing you to enhance the completeness of your work.
