Author's Note

There are probably many people who have thought at least once, 'I want to draw a cute animal too!'
This book is for these people.
In addition to familiar pets like dogs and cats, there are many other pets in the world, such as hamsters that roll diligently on their tiny wheels, sugar gliders with their cute big eyes, and otters that require a strict licensing process to keep.
Among them, we have designed it so that you can draw especially cute and friendly pets in a variety of colors.

I find so much energy in my life not only from caring for my own pets, but also from seeing photos of my friends' pets or influencer pets! Drawing these adorable pets brings me even more joy and never gets boring than when I draw about any other subject.
Among the various drawing tools, I used oil pastels.
Oil pastels are readily available and simple to use, so even beginners can use them without difficulty.
Just choose the color you want and paint it directly onto the paper.
Of course, at first it can be confusing because you don't know which colors to use.
So I've decided on 15 colors that are good to use when drawing animals.
We'll show you the best color combinations to bring out your pet's charm.

We also suggest colors that match each fur color, so you can refer to them when drawing other animals that are not in the book.
You will be able to produce much more satisfactory results.
It will also help those who use other painting tools, as you can practice combining colors to create a rich chromatic feel.
There is no right way to draw.
I'll show you the results by drawing a picture I've never drawn before, using a color combination I've never used before, and I'll show you the process and method.
You can follow my instructions in the book, or you can add your own style along the way.
Sometimes it's much easier to see a video than to understand a process through text and images.
So, I also prepared a video of drawing the pets in the book.
It might be helpful to look at it before drawing.

It's very difficult to draw a picture that you like from the beginning.
I also draw the same picture many times.
If you redraw it, gradually fixing the parts you were disappointed with, you will end up with a much more satisfactory picture.
So, I hope you all don't be too impatient and enjoy drawing with the mindset of 'I'll just finish it first, and if I'm not satisfied, I'll draw it again!'
