Into the book
The Seongbuk-dong outing begins at Hansung University Station on Subway Line 4.
If you come out of exit 6 of Hansung University Station and walk straight ahead for about 200m, you will see a wall right in front of the Donggu Marketing High School sign. It is interesting to see movie posters from the 1960s and 1970s, such as [Hate Me Again] and [Boarder], painted along the wall.
If you walk along the wide road with six lanes in both directions, you can see many old shops that still retain their appearance from 30 to 40 years ago.
There are rows of signs with names, fonts, and pictures that still have the same 1970s and 1980s feel, such as photo studios, watch shops, beauty salons, mills, and oil shops.
This is a street where you can feel the nostalgia of old memories through the shops and signs.
---From "Seongbuk-dong Road"
The small stream of water flowing between the tall buildings that surround the area like a folding screen is enough to provide a refreshing drink to city dwellers who miss a blade of grass.
The clear water flowing in the middle of the city and the cool water falling like a waterfall are sometimes refreshing just to look at and sometimes just to listen to.
It's amazing to be able to see fish swimming around in the water.
The sound of sparrows chirping as they fly through the grass is also lovely.
The floral fragrance wafting from the white thistle flowers blooming here and there along the stream is more fragrant than high-end perfume.
How fortunate it is to be able to encounter a stream scenery like this one you might see in the countryside, right in the middle of a busy city.
---From "Cheonggyecheon-gil"
Seochon, where old hanok houses are preserved despite being right in front of Gwanghwamun, the center of Seoul, is a comfortable place because it doesn't have the complex atmosphere of Seoul.
There are an unusually large number of narrow alleys throughout Seochon.
These narrow alleys, which are connected like a maze between houses densely packed at the foot of the mountain ridge, are themselves a historical trace of hundreds of years of history.
Although there aren't any particular famous landmarks, the charm of Seochon, which has a cozy and lyrical old-world charm, lies in the pleasure of leisurely strolling through its narrow alleyways.
---From "Seochon-gil"
Because trains rarely run, the long, rusty railroad tracks are overgrown with weeds growing between the gravel, giving them the appearance of an abandoned railroad.
In spring, yellow rape blossoms brightly decorate the road, in summer, the fragrance of white acacia flowers fills the air, in fall, cosmos flowers sway in the breeze and bloom in full bloom, and in winter, the road becomes a romantic railroad in the city center covered in white snow.
This place, which has become a walking path for people rather than a railroad for trains, is perfect for a leisurely walk.
