Description
Book Introduction
It's the first time, so it shines even brighter
Full of courage that makes you feel like you can do anything
We are in the first year of middle school!

『Puberty vs. Middle School Life』 is a book that briefly tells the story of Luna, the protagonist of the [Puberty vs. Menopause] series, during her first year of middle school.
It contains a more realistic depiction of first-year middle school life than in real life, as well as various information necessary for prospective middle school students.

A middle school life guidebook by kids, for kids!

First year of middle school is a time of transition from childhood to adolescence! Wearing a school uniform for the first time, having different teachers for each subject, longer class hours and more subjects than in elementary school.
Middle school is completely different from elementary school.
So, a lot of preparation is needed before admission.
However, while there are many middle school admissions guidebooks for parents, there are few school life guidebooks for children.

≪Puberty vs. Middle School Life≫ is a book written in the form of a short fairy tale about the year that Luna, the main character of the [Puberty vs. Menopause] series, spent after graduating from elementary school and entering middle school.
It covers not only academic issues such as what the free semester (grade) system is, how written tests and performance evaluations are conducted, and what types of school competitions there are, but also school life-related issues such as class assignments, club activities, festivals, and overall middle school life that children are really curious about, such as dating and friendship issues.
Each short story covers a different topic and is complete, making it easy to find the parts you need.
We also provide detailed information about middle school life through the appendix.

Publisher's Review
A middle school life guidebook by kids, for kids!

First year of middle school is a time of transition from childhood to adolescence! Wearing a school uniform for the first time, having different teachers for each subject, longer class hours and more subjects than in elementary school.
Middle school is completely different from elementary school.
So, a lot of preparation is needed before admission.
However, while there are many guidebooks for middle school admissions for parents, there are not many guidebooks for school life specifically for children.

『Puberty vs. Middle School Life』 is a book written in the form of a short fairy tale about the year that Luna, the main character of the [Puberty vs.

“Let me tell you a little about the test.”
How could you be so kind to tell me about the exam when I'm a freshman?
"Why? I'm only a freshman. I heard there were no exams!"
"that's right.
There are kids who go to school without taking any tests and then have a mental breakdown as soon as they enter their second year.
“Like my brother.”
I felt like I knew what was going on without even saying it.
“In middle school, exams are largely divided into midterms and finals.
Usually, there are midterms and finals in one semester.
The midterm exams for the first semester are usually in April, the final exams are in June, and the midterm exams for the second semester are in September.
“The final exams are held around late November or early December.”
“So often!”

A story about middle school life that is more real than reality, with a hundred times more empathy!

Author Je Seong, who has been delivering life-related stories in a cheerful style, began writing this book for her daughter, who entered middle school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a parent raising children of the same age, and as a writer who represents the hearts of children, I wanted to serve as a good guide for children who are confused by the various situations they face as they enter middle school for the first time.
As the author has a middle school-aged child, she has incorporated expressions that children frequently use and situations that commonly occur to children into the story.
It's full of stories that any child of the same age can relate to, such as coin karaoke, the four cuts of life, and how to use a study cafe.
Luna, the main character of this book, is not a model student who only studies.
She is an ordinary middle school girl who likes playing more than studying.
Luna's journey of making new friends, worrying about her appearance, participating in club activities, feeling stressed by various evaluations, and considering her future path will provide an opportunity to think about how she should spend her middle school life.

I hope you don't ask me what I want to be yet.

I want to be a teacher, an athlete, a celebrity,
Saying that I want to become a civil servant is something I said without really thinking about it.

But now I'm really thinking about it.

What I like, why I should study, how I should get along with people,
I'm thinking and thinking about everything.
This is the time when your mind grows as your body grows!
I'm serious now.
So, I will grow more and more.

Conveying the value of middle school life!

Middle school is an important time to think about your interests and seriously consider your future career path before becoming a high school student who begins studying for college entrance exams in earnest.
Unlike elementary school, this is also a time when you have to do more things on your own rather than getting help from your parents.
Luna, the main character of this book, is also like that.
Since this is my first time in middle school, I make mistakes and get frustrated.
Sometimes I feel disappointed because I feel like I'm the only one without a dream and that I'm falling behind.
The author hoped that children would gain the courage to affirm their own clumsiness and take a step forward, rather than being hurt by it.
I say that just getting through middle school is great, and even if you haven't decided on a career path, it's okay to just experience various activities that allow you to discover yourself.
Through this book, I hope that children will experience first-year middle school life indirectly, gain the courage to make mistakes, and feel empowered to boldly take on challenges to create precious memories.

I wanted to tell you a fun story that will help you look forward to middle school life.

I wanted to show you how precious it is to spend time making precious memories with good friends and teachers.

Above all, I wrote this story in the hope that you will have a middle school life where you can grow beautifully.
