473 A couple of things you want to know about the teahouse

Into the book
The teahouse archiving project began with an interest in the regionality of Korean architecture and space.
While working as an architect, I wanted to find the beauty created here where I live, rather than the floating fads of Western trends.
Although pushed out by cafes, teahouses still operate all over the country.
We viewed teahouses as important spaces that reflect and accumulate Korean culture, and sought to explore the design that permeates them.

--- p.7

The tea house shows a design that has matured over a long period of time.
There is a design language that is naturally incorporated into teahouses.
So, when I went to a tea house, I liked the feeling of being in a space where a long history was not interrupted but rather connected.
There is a resistance to taking it for granted that it is old-fashioned and will gradually disappear, or to stuffing it as a space of memories, calling it an “old-fashioned teahouse.”
Because the teahouse is still functioning and is still a fascinating space.
