Boss, are you closing the store and going on a trip again?
Description
Book Introduction
Even though I travel the world like it's my home for two months a year, I didn't go bankrupt. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, my sales tripled!
Many office workers have to be mindful of their company's opinion when going on overseas trips once a year.
The author of this book started his own company solely to travel abroad as he pleased, working ten months a year and traveling for two months.
People around him ask, “Can the CEO be away for that long?” But far from failing, the author’s company’s sales tripled even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The author of this book is a man in his 30s who runs a brunch cafe, a general store, and a pension in Namhae German Village.
And I also work as a travel guide and travel blogger.
Able to communicate in English, Spanish and Chinese.
That doesn't mean I was good at studying during my school days.
Until high school, I was only interested in playing and thought I would live an ordinary life like everyone else.
However, a month-long trip to London that I was forced to take by my parents when I was twenty became a turning point in my life.
From then on, I became obsessed with traveling and learned foreign languages while traveling around the world.
He seems like he would be very brave since he has been to 40 countries, but he says that he is actually a coward who cannot go outside because he is scared as soon as the sun goes down.
But he is incredibly brave about what he wants to do.
I even made a suggestion to the owner of a guesthouse I stayed at while traveling in Barcelona, and realized my dream of living and working abroad by changing jobs for two months.
If we look into the author's life so far, there are many aspects that cannot be explained by conventional standards.
You may wonder how this is possible, but surprisingly, you get what you want.
Reading a book is a series of surprises.
As the author says, “I find my life, which I don’t know where it will go, so fun and exciting,” the story of her life so far is as exciting as watching a drama.
It's clearly a very special story, but it gives me hope that I can live like this too.
Traveling is the most enjoyable way to develop myself in the world.
This book is a very unique self-help book and an interesting travel book.
I hope that this book will be an opportunity for teenagers without dreams, people in their 20s and 30s who are worried about their current lives, and business owners who cannot travel because of work concerns to change their values.

--- pp.6~7
After opening the cafe, I worked without a single day off for 11 months, from morning till late at night, becoming the hardest-working CEO in the world.
So, I became a workaholic and just kept running forward, taking three times less rest than a company with a five-day workweek.
I thought I would be really happy if I made a lot of money, but that wasn't the case at all.
I never wanted to go to the hospital again.
I looked back on why I opened the cafe.
The reason I wanted to become a flight attendant, go to America, and become a cafe owner was all because I wanted to travel freely.
But even though I was the boss who could make time for myself whenever I wanted, I was tying myself down.
I couldn't think of anything else except that I had to go on a trip.
Something of a turning point was needed.
I thought I should give myself a 'vacation' for all my hard work.
--- pp.32~33
A year later, I made a brief stopover in France on my way to a trip to Northern Europe.
I was spending the night alone on a bateaux-mousses (boat) on the Seine River, enjoying the beautiful night view of Paris, when suddenly I started receiving strange messages on Facebook.
"Hey, you're in France? Why didn't you call me?" At first, I thought he was a voice phishing scammer.
A foreigner I didn't know kept sending me messages, so I thought he was crazy and didn't reply.
But then suddenly a picture was sent.
It was the French couple who had chicken and beer at our cafe a year ago!!! They sent me a message in a hurry because they wanted to meet up after seeing my Facebook post of a photo I took at the Eiffel Tower.
--- p.91
"Shall we go first? Should we swap jobs for two months?"
I thought that if I had the attitude of gaining experience and learning something new, I could change my career.
Since it was each other's off-season, it seemed like there wouldn't be much disruption to business.
We promised to do that that day.
I was so happy on the plane back to Korea after my business trip. It was the first time I had ever felt so happy on a return trip.
After returning to Korea, I was full of enthusiasm to try new things in the future.
And then my work became more fun.
My heart raced at the thought that in six months I would be running a B&B in Barcelona, my favorite place, the one I had always wanted to do.
Time passed quickly and the day to leave for Barcelona finally arrived.
Exactly two months, from November 11, 2018 to January 10, 2019.
"Everyone says it's impossible, so I'm going to be the first to try it!" Half worried and half excited about the new challenge, I set off for Barcelona.
--- p.153
Above all, by walking down a different alley every day, I got to see a variety of places, including local markets, flea markets for locals, interior design shops, and local restaurants.
Thanks to that, I was able to learn the way to both tourist spots and non-tourist spots.
The Sagrada Familia, which I saw on my way to my Spanish lessons, was still beautiful no matter how many times I saw it!
Whenever guests asked me to be their city guide, I would use all the Spanish I had studied so diligently.
My attitude towards guests became more and more confident and assertive.
Before I knew it, customers started calling me 'boss' without any hesitation.
After changing jobs for two months, I realized that I need to be confident in myself to be confident in front of others.
--- p.186
Felice Cafe, which I started in 2015 when I was 27, has helped me grow for 10 years until 2024.
No one can beat someone who enjoys their work.
I'm still imagining weird and funny things.
I started this cafe to find freedom. I don't know how long I'll be able to run this cafe, which seems free but isn't, but I'm so excited and looking forward to my life, which I don't know where it will lead.
When I was a student, I traveled to various countries, took photos, and after I opened a cafe, I traveled and lived there for a month or two. Now, I am a travel blogger and live a fun life traveling the world.
Now, I dream of a more wonderful life as a travel writer, traveling around the world.

Publisher's Review
How a 17-year veteran of international travel and a hard-working N-jobber lives, always wondering, "Where should I go next?"
#Is she a language genius?
The author speaks English, Chinese, and Spanish.
English is fluent, and Chinese and Spanish are above beginner level, but simple communication is no problem.
It's not that I have an innate talent for languages, nor that I studied foreign languages diligently from a young age.
I hated studying English so much that I asked myself why I had to study it when I had no reason to go abroad until high school.
Of course, my grades weren't good either.
Whenever I ran into a foreigner, I was afraid to talk to them, so I would often run away.
However, as I continued to travel abroad, which I enjoyed, I naturally began to study foreign languages diligently.
It's a good example that vividly shows that if you work hard at anything you want, you'll be good at it.
#Is she brave?
I've been traveling around the world since I was twenty.
If there's a city I like, I go on a trip and stay there for a month or two.
I lived in Mexico for four months.
People around me say that I am brave and ask how I can live abroad alone as a woman.
But surprisingly, they are very timid and don't wander around much after the sun goes down.
It is said that because they come in as soon as the sun sets, the owner of the inn even stepped in and served as a guide.
Because safety is our top priority.
But when you have something you want to do, you become bolder and braver than anyone else.
Even when people say things like, “How can the CEO go on a month-long trip abroad? That young person is full,” he doesn’t care what others say.
I even got on the plane with a fighting spirit until the day before departure.
I ignored the dissuasion of those around me and realized my dream of 'living and working abroad' by switching jobs and living with the owner of a guesthouse in Barcelona for two months.
Although I consider myself a novice, in Buenos Aires I danced the tango with the main character of a tango show using the tango skills I learned in just one hour.
#She's born with a silver spoon in her mouth?
By the age of mid-thirties, I have already been to 40 countries.
It's hard to travel abroad even once a year, but 40 countries? It's likely you were born into wealth and traveled with your parents' support.
Since I was a college student, I have been working part-time to save money just to travel abroad.
I had no interest in clothes, cosmetics, or luxury goods, so I was only interested in traveling.
This is because I realized early on that experiences evoke emotions and remain in the mind for a long time, but objects become accustomed and disappear from memory.
Although they are not born with a silver spoon in their mouth, they earn more money than the average office worker and can travel more freely for longer periods of time.
#What is her job?
Currently, I run a brunch cafe called 'Felis' and a Nutcracker shop in Namhae German Village.
The second floor of the cafe is a pension.
There are cafe owners, general store owners, and pension owners.
He is also a travel guide.
I have done night tours in Barcelona, honeymoon trips in the US, and guided tours of Namhae.
And as a travel blogger, I also go on sponsored trips abroad.
He is also a writer and plans to become a lecturer in the future.
In a word, he is an N-jobber.
How can she manage so many things when she struggles to do even one? She says her life, with its unpredictable paths, is so exciting and exciting that she enjoys her work and expands her abilities.
