Description
Book Introduction
★Highly recommended by Dr. Park Moon-ho★
“Transcription is a practice that restores human senses.”
Brightening the dark life with wisdom
Engraving the Heart Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, and the Thousand-Hand Sutra with your fingertips!
A study of wisdom containing the essence of 50 years of practice by the head monk of Bongeunsa Temple.
The first book by Wonmyeong, the head monk of Bongeunsa Temple and a spiritual teacher of Buddhism who comforts the hearts of modern people as a 'religion of healing.'
The author, who has walked the path of lifelong meditation and practice, has translated the Buddha's wisdom into modern language and compiled it into two volumes of manuscripts, "May My Mind Be Calm" and "Buddha Already Within Me."
《The Buddha is Already Within Me》 reinterprets the three most widely read and beloved Buddhist scriptures, 《The Heart Sutra》, 《The Diamond Sutra》, and 《The Thousand Hands Sutra》, in modern language so that anyone can easily understand and feel the essence of enlightenment contained in the Buddha's words.
The author emphasizes that “true enlightenment is not outside, but already within me.”
Rather than elaborate doctrines or complex explanations, this book, like the author's life of practice, focuses on the essence and is full of insights that cultivate a firm mind and wisdom that are not swayed by delusion.
The wisdom of emptiness contained in the Heart Sutra, the wisdom of enlightenment contained in the Diamond Sutra, and the wisdom of compassion contained in the Thousand Hands Sutra add depth to our weary daily lives and give us the answer to the question, 'How should we live?'
The act of copying scriptures by hand, one letter at a time, is not simply an act of writing, but a practice that embodies wisdom.
As the tip of the pen passes over the paper, your worries will disappear, your mind will become calm, and the light of wisdom will gradually awaken from within.
Dr. Park Moon-ho read this book first and strongly recommended it, saying:
“Writing is the return of the hand and the restoration of human senses.
“It is the most powerful practice that slows down the speed of thought, restores the balance of the senses, and ultimately makes wisdom work as reality.” As he said, readers, if they engrave the breath of the ancient scriptures in their hearts along with the commentary of Monk Wonmyeong, will gain the wisdom of life that will not allow them to wander even in the darkness.

Into the book
There are three ways to study the scriptures: reading them, reciting them out loud, and writing them down by hand.
Among them, meditation is the most suitable practice for calming the mind and deeply engraving the meaning.
You can practice quietly at home and master the sutras with your mind and fingertips.
(Omitted) Transcription is not simply the act of transferring letters.
It is a meditation and practice that allows you to deeply enter your mind into the Buddha's words.
As you sit quietly and follow the sutras, your mind becomes calm, your afflictions disappear, and your original peace and wisdom shine forth.
It will be the most powerful mental training that you can consistently practice even in your busy daily life.
--- From the "Introductory Note"
Between the beings of the dark realm and the Buddhas of the light realm are those who practice toward enlightenment, that is, the Bodhisattvas.
When a Bodhisattva sets his sights on becoming a Buddha and diligently practices, he progresses from darkness to light.
As the dark area decreases, the light area increases, but as it gets brighter, the dark shadows become darker.
Don't be discouraged by the deepening shadows. Just light the light of enlightenment, just as you would light a dark room to illuminate the whole place.
Because we rely on wisdom that sees through everything, our minds are free from obstacles, and because there are no obstacles, there is no fear.
The Bodhisattva leaves behind all vain thoughts and enters into complete nirvana.
All Buddhas of the past, present, and future also rely on the wisdom of deep enlightenment and thus attain supreme enlightenment.
Perfect wisdom is the most mysterious and bright spell, the highest spell and the incomparable spell.
--- From the Heart Sutra
Everything that is artificially created and brought about by fate is like a dream, like an illusion.
It is like a bubble, a shadow, dew, or lightning; it must be like this.
All beings and phenomena that appear in the world are like fleeting dreams that disappear without a trace.
It is like an illusion that disappears in an instant, like a bubble or a shadow.
It is like the morning dew and also like lightning.
So, don't be attached to anything, just look at it as it is.
If you see things as they are, you will perceive phenomena as they really are.
Open your eyes to see the truth as it is.
If someone says, 'Buddha comes and goes, sits and lies down,' then that person has not properly understood what I am trying to convey.
The Buddha is called Buddha because he originally neither comes nor goes, and he is ‘one who exists as the truth.’
The essence of Buddha cannot be measured by the concepts of physical time and space.
Truth itself is eternal, without beginning or end.
The idea of 'coming and going' is merely an illusion that arises from an attachment to a fixed entity.
Buddha is not a being that resides in a specific space and time, but is a universal truth that exists everywhere.
Buddha is not a light that comes from outside, but a light that awakens from within.
--- From the Diamond Sutra
The Buddha's teachings are deep, broad, and subtle, and cannot be compared to anything else.
Even after countless years have passed, it is difficult to encounter the Buddha's teachings.
Although this is such a precious relationship, I have now encountered and learned the Buddha's teachings. Please help me realize its true meaning.
This is a true spell that opens the treasure house containing the Buddha's teachings.
"Om Aranam Aradha" May you open the door to bright wisdom with a mind free from afflictions and enjoy contentment and peace.
This is a spell of compassion and enlightenment that shows the true heart of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
"Om Mani Padme Hum" May the great compassion of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva eliminate the suffering of all living beings and lead them all to the path of enlightenment.
May the compassion within me blossom, and may the suffering of the world become clear like a lotus flower.

Publisher's Review
“Meet Buddha once before you die.”
Studying Wisdom to Cross the Age of Delusion
The reason why the Buddha's teachings from 2,500 years ago are needed again today is because their wisdom touches the essence of life.
《Buddha is already within me》 is a collection of Buddha's writings, written down and memorized in my heart, containing words of wisdom that will help you when life doesn't go as planned.
This book teaches us how to live our lives righteously without being swayed by the world through three Buddhist scriptures: the Heart Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, and the Thousand Hands Sutra, and suggests copying the scriptures as a 'training method for wisdom.'
The message conveyed by the three scriptures is simple yet profound.
The Heart Sutra allows us to see the world as it is with the wisdom of emptiness, the Diamond Sutra allows us to cut off attachment and discrimination with the wisdom of enlightenment, and the Thousand Hands Sutra allows us to embrace others beyond ourselves with the wisdom of compassion.
The three lights connect into one path, awakening the 'Buddha within me' and allowing me to discover wisdom that remains unshaken even in the darkness.
Wonmyeong, the head monk of Bongeunsa Temple, carefully selected the teachings of Buddha that he had cultivated over 50 years of practice and organized this book so that readers could write on each page and memorize them in their hearts.
The words of Buddha contained in the scriptures are not religious doctrines that are outside of everyday life.
Even in today's anxiety and suffering, it remains a valid compass for the mind.
The author selected the most beloved and widely read Buddhist scriptures and their core content, translated them into modern language, and explained them so that anyone can understand them.
It is not a language of religion but of life, and it does not simply reinterpret the scriptures, but rather presents a path to self-enlightenment.
“Face the peace and wisdom you inherently possess.”
A desperate practice that illuminates darkness with wisdom
Every sentence in “Buddha is already within me” comes from the practitioner’s long experience.
Like the Buddha's message that "enlightenment does not come from outside, but is already within me," the sentences in this book are concise yet provoke deep thought.
As you read the contents of the scriptures translated into modern language, you will experience the special power of this book to transform life's problems into insight.
When the truth understood with the eyes passes through the hands and is engraved in the heart, wisdom is no longer an abstract concept but a living insight.
In the process, we will be able to focus more on our inner selves and embark on the path of practice that strengthens our minds.
“In the age of vision, the power to restore human senses comes from the ‘return of the hand.’
“Writing by hand is a restoration of the senses that allows humans to think again, and a redemption of the mind.”
Dr. Park Moon-ho strongly recommended this book, explaining about transcription as above.
As he says, this book doesn't stop at acquiring wisdom.
This book is a practical guide to regaining a sense of enlightenment through direct writing.
The moment the Buddha's words pass through your fingertips and are engraved in your heart, you will feel that wisdom is not far away, but is already awakening within you.
