Book Introduction
Everything travelers love about Northern Europe in one book!
New! Self Travel Series
Our ‘Nordic Self-Travel’ has changed completely!
'Self Travel' is a series of overseas travel guidebooks that introduce travel information for each destination, such as attractions, food, shopping, and accommodations, in a friendly manner like a local guide.
In particular, 『Nordic Self-Travel』 focuses on vividly conveying Northern Europe, which can feel like an unknown world, by adding information on the hottest tourist destinations and restaurants in Northern Europe along with the new catchphrase, “A trustworthy overseas travel guidebook.”
Also, after considering what readers want, rather than just providing a lot of information, we carefully selected only the key information so that even first-time overseas travelers can travel without worry.
As air routes that had been closed due to COVID-19 in recent years reopen, the number of travelers heading to Northern Europe is also increasing.
The latest edition of "Nordic Self-Travel" 2024-2025 covers everything from healthy travel tips for the post-COVID era to useful local information.
We've heard from travelers in Northern Europe that this one book is all you need for a perfect trip. Let's prepare for a fun and exciting trip with the trustworthy "Nordic Self-Travel."

Into the book
During the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2020, many people spent their days reminiscing about their travels before 2020.
Among them, there must have been quite a few who lived with memories of Northern Europe.
I, too, recalled the happy times I had in Northern Europe, hoping this situation would pass quickly, and I waited for the moment when I could resume updates and hold the game in your hands again.
Due to the aftermath of the war, flight times have increased, and the already high prices have risen even more. It's frustrating, but travel must continue.
--- From the "Prologue"
In most areas, the peak season is from May to September, while in the Arctic Circle, where aurora viewing is possible, and in areas with a high concentration of ski resorts, the peak season is from December to March.
In particular, some tourist attractions and accommodations are open mainly from May to September, while areas subject to weather conditions may only open from late June to late August.
So, it is only natural that if you miss the timing, the scope of your trip will be greatly limited.
The more you prepare for your trip, the more satisfied you'll be at the destination!
--- p.45, from “Let’s make a proper decision about traveling to Northern Europe!”
In the 19th century, it developed into a center for the herring fishing industry, and after industrialization, it became a resort for Stockholm citizens.
Nowadays, it is loved by citizens as a weekend and summer outing spot that retains its old appearance regardless of the season.
If you get off the ferry and look to the right along the coast, you will see an island with a fortress, and on the left, a cute village remains.
First, let's take a small boat to the fortress island and take a spin around it to feel the old atmosphere.
--- p.190, from "Boxholm"
The symbol of Stavanger, meaning 'sword stuck in a rock'.
It was erected on a rock by Fritz Røed in 1883 to commemorate the battle in which Harald Fairhair united Norway in this area around 872.
The three 10-meter-high bronze swords symbolize the divided kingdom, and in the evening, the sight of the sunset over the nearby Hafrsfjord adds to the atmosphere.
--- p.306, from “Kalgot Rock”
A memorial and museum documenting the history of volcanic eruptions on the island.
From January 23, 1973, for approximately five months, the eruption of the Eldfell volcano in the eastern part of the island buried one-third of the island and forced the residents to evacuate to the mainland.
After the activity ceased, reconstruction began and most of the residents were able to return home.
As excavations of the area began in the early 2000s, the need for a museum to record the history emerged, and in 2013, it opened on the site of a house that had been buried at the time.
--- p.526, from "Eldheima"
Currently, the Nordic unified prepaid SIM card only supports services from Sweden's Combic (all over Europe except Iceland, data-focused), Norway's Mykol, and Denmark's Leica (all over Europe, data-focused), and can only be purchased and activated in the countries of the respective carriers.
Choose according to the country you are traveling to, but keep in mind that connections may be poor in fjords or inland mountainous areas.

The perfect way to enjoy Northern Europe
A Complete Guide to the Major Cities of Six Nordic Countries
"Nordic Self-Travel" captures the charm of the Nordic countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, and Iceland, all in one volume.
The demand for travelers to Nordic countries, where they can experience the peaceful and romantic atmosphere of the cities, the overwhelming natural landscapes such as the Northern Lights and fjords, and even the art galleries and museums that represent the "Nordic style" and the design of famous brands, is increasing day by day.
Not only winter travelers seeking to see the Northern Lights, but also travelers seeking to challenge themselves with strenuous mountaineering in the fjord regions, as the number of mountaineers in Korea increases, are heading to Northern Europe regardless of the season.
"Nordic Self-Travel" introduces recommended itineraries for traveling through representative cities in six Nordic countries, as well as the hottest spots in each city.
For each spot, the characteristics of that attraction are written down as keywords.
These keywords not only categorize places like art galleries, restaurants, and cafes, but also make it easy to plan a trip by utilizing keywords specific to the spot, such as tourist attractions, movie/book backgrounds, architecture/design, and places to visit with children.
We meticulously researched the most accurate and up-to-date information to reflect the characteristics of the Nordic countries, which have different public holidays and operating hours every year, and even included tips on the natural phenomena of the Nordic region, such as the 'polar night' and 'white night', to help first-time travelers to understand the country.
Each chapter begins with basic information about each country, a brief history, its relationship with Korea, famous people from that country, and even must-try foods and introductions to famous movies and books, allowing you to experience the charm of Northern Europe in advance.
Regional maps and route maps have also been updated to the latest version, providing detailed information on travel routes between cities and countries in a single volume.
The author, a Northern European expert, has meticulously compiled his know-how for beginners and prospective travelers who may feel overwhelmed by the rapidly changing Northern Europe.
The author is active under the name 'Tina' on Naver Cafe 'Yurang' and provides consultations on travel to Northern Europe.
For over 10 years, I have traveled back and forth across Northern Europe to provide the latest information and carefully check for changes for members who request advice from me.
Also, thanks to the many connections I made locally, I was able to vividly understand and apply the local situation even after leaving Northern Europe.
The author's expertise is reflected in "Nordic Self-Travel," having met and consulted with numerous travelers, pondered their biggest concerns and the information they most need, and presented solutions.
By reviving these experiences, we have professionally presented recommended courses tailored to the purpose of travel and type of traveler.
In particular, this revised edition introduces Vaxholm, an island village near Stockholm, Sweden, and also introduces popular spots that are rapidly rising in Northern Europe, such as ‘Kalgot Rock’ and ‘Piggio Shop’, boasting not only updated information but also upgraded and more substantial content.
It provides continuous updates and tailored courses and information to each individual traveler's needs, easing the worries of independent travelers.
This is precisely why 『Nordic Self-Travel』 has established itself as a leading guidebook for Nordic travel since its first publication five years ago.
A Nordic travel bible that will satisfy every traveler!
Take the Inlandvanan scenic train, a train route that runs a total of 1,289 km, and you can see the vast nature from Kristinehamn in the Swedish inland to Mora, Östersund, and Gällivare.
It systematically introduces how to travel freely through Norway's representative fjord region.
Due to the recent increase in rental car users in the fjord area, this revised edition includes rental car travel in addition to public transportation.
Some travelers may have intentionally excluded the fjords from their itineraries, as they are a difficult area to travel to due to limited access times and many transportation restrictions.
"Nordic Self-Travel" includes detailed regional maps with travel models and routes tailored to different travel days, helping a wider range of travelers explore the fjords with ease.
Many Northern European travelers have been dreaming of experiencing the Northern Lights, polar nights, and midnight sun on an Arctic Circle expedition, and even the golden waterfall Gullfoss in Iceland, the land of ice and fire.
The addition of Heimaey, the only inhabited volcanic island below the Icelandic mainland, captivates those who want to delve deeper into Iceland's nature and history.
With this one book, you'll be able to fully conquer the six Nordic countries with the vividness of a local and the depth of an expert, as it contains information on various travel destinations, just like the number of travelers heading to Northern Europe.
