Take a cruise in the Mediterranean!
Take a cruise in the Mediterranean!
Description
Book Introduction
It was the afternoon of the 24th when I arrived in Barcelona via Amsterdam from Incheon Airport.
The schedule for the 24th, 25th, and 26th includes staying at the Moritz Hotel in Barcelona and touring Barcelona, Montserrat, Sitges, and other places.
On the 24th, the first day of arrival in Barcelona, we will go from the airport to the hotel and rest, and on the 25th, the second day, we will go on the 'Gaudi Tour' included in the cruise package.

Barcelona can be called Gaudi's city.
Barcelona is a place I visited when I was returning from a trip to South America in the past, and I visited Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona Cathedral, Lopez Square, Colombo Mirador, Boqueria Market, Casa Milà, Sagrada Familia, Santa Pau Modernist Exhibition Center (formerly Santa Pau Hospital), Park Guell, etc. (If you want to know more about this, see 『South America Travelogue 3 Brazil Spain Greece: The World of Innocence and Childhood』), and this package includes a tour of Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, Park Guell, Montjuïc Park, and Sagrada Familia.
Some of these are things I've seen before, but seeing them again feels new.
Is this what travel is all about? Seeing the same place over and over again feels new. Why? Of course, the objects we see change with the passage of time, and perhaps a little bit of forgetting has played a role. But above all, it's because our eyes have been refreshed.
Travel opens your eyes to new perspectives.
In any case, this day's Gaudi tour was a journey that once again made me feel the greatness of Gaudi.

The third day, the 26th, was a truly free trip, but I traveled to Montserrat and Sitges using the Montserrat-Sitges travel package recommended by the cruise travel agency.
Montserrat in particular is still memorable from this trip.
Of course, the rocky peaks of Montserrat surrounding the Montserrat Monastery and Cathedral were shrouded in clouds and fog, creating a breathtakingly beautiful view that was beyond words.
That's why, even if you're not on a cruise, if you visit Barcelona, I highly recommend visiting Montserrat.
Sitges is an impressive place with its deep blue Mediterranean waters.
For those who don't usually get to see the ocean, this is a place worth visiting.
The 27th is the first day of the cruise, when you have to board the ship, but the morning is completely free.
This morning's itinerary was to Plaza de España, a place I had never been to in Barcelona before.
I walked around and saw the sculpture in the middle of Plaça d'Espanya, the Arena shopping mall, the Venetian Tower, the Montjuic fountain, and the Catalan Museum of Art, which was once a palace. The view of Barcelona from the museum was truly spectacular.
I regret not coming here before.
For those of you who are visiting Barcelona, the Montjuic Park is located behind this art museum, so I recommend making a day trip to Montjuic Park and Plaza de España.

On the 28th, the ship will dock in Palma de Mallorca, which also has many places to see.
Since the old town is quite far from where the cruise ship docks, it is recommended to take a city bus after getting off the cruise ship.
Of course, those who want to exercise hard can enjoy the scenery while walking.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria in Palma is also worth seeing, and the walk along the walls in front of it down to the sea park is also really nice.
But the must-see here is the 600-year-old olive tree that you will find in the alley behind the cathedral and along the alley.
The next day, the 29th, we had to spend the day on a ship in the Mediterranean Sea heading from Palma to Palermo.
Even if I stay in the boat all day, I don't get bored or tired at all.
There are plenty of things to see and do on board, including watching people sunbathing on the ship, swimming in the pool, watching acrobats perform in the ship's theater, or playing pachinko.

The 30th is a tour of Palermo, Italy.
After getting off the boat, you can visit the Vucciria Market, Quattro Canti, the Pretoria Fountain, the Ballaro Market, Palermo Cathedral, the Norman Palace, Monreale Cathedral, the Catacombs, the Prefect's Palace, Villano Florio, the flea market, and the Massimo Theater.
Among these, it is better to go to the Buchiria Market, Balaro Market, and flea market in the afternoon.
There's nothing much to see in the morning.
This journey doesn't require a car.
The sights are a bit far apart, so you can just walk around and take in the sights. The places I really recommend seeing are the nude sculptures in the Pretoria Fountain, the Palermo Cathedral, and Villano Florio.
I also highly recommend seeing the nameless moon village murals on the way to the catacombs.
Also worth seeing are the Governor's Palace and Villano Florio, and on the way to Teatro Massimo, we recommend stopping by the Cato Market to sample some street food.

On December 1st, the ship docked in Civitavecchia, where you can tour Rome. Since I had toured Rome in the past, I only toured the city of Civitavecchia.
Here, the statue of Michelangelo kissing the fortress is impressive.
Of course, those interested in Rome can visit the Vatican Palace or tour Rome.
On the 2nd, the ship docked in Savona, Italy, and you can tour Genoa, which is about 100 li away, and Sanremona, which is a little further away, and Monaco.
However, the city tour of Savona is also good.
As soon as you get off the port, you will be in the city center. I recommend visiting the Pancaldo Tower, the Brandeis Tower, which were built to defend the old city, as well as the Sistine Chapel and the Priammar Fortress.
On the 3rd day, we will be touring Marseille. Here, I would like to recommend seeing Marseille Cathedral, the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations, Fort Saint-Jean, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Palais Longchamp.
On the 4th, I will get off in Barcelona and take a plane back.
And so my cruise ended.
