A world history of desire and reversal born from bold interpretation and sharp insight.
* The British Parliament, a model of democracy, was the result of a 'national swindle' operation?
* Poland almost disappeared from the face of the earth because of the European version of Lee Wan-yong?
* The reason the Reformation was successful was because the kings and nobles rebelled against the Pope?
Until now, we have only learned history from beautiful and sublime textbooks.
The French Revolution, which greatly advanced human history, was a manifestation of the spirit of liberty, equality, and fraternity, and England was the first country to achieve parliamentary democracy, which had a great influence on the world.
But this is only a half-truth, a history packaged and sanctified by someone else! By carefully examining the ambitions and dark intentions of those in power hidden behind "history," we can cultivate the power to transcend the past and understand the world we live in today.

Into the book
In the 8th century BC, a very small kingdom called 'Rome' emerged in central Italy.
Rome grew steadily, and by the 2nd century BC, it had become a powerful nation that dominated all of Italy and the Mediterranean region.
Rome, which had been the most powerful nation in Europe for a while, split into Western Rome and Eastern Rome in 395 AD.
The Western Roman Empire fell in less than 100 years in 476, but the Eastern Roman Empire survived until 1453.
Rome began as a kingdom.
But by the 6th century BC, there were no kings and Rome became a republic.
Instead of the king ruling alone, power was shared among various government agencies.
It can be said that it had a fairly sophisticated system for an ancient country.
…Rome also appears in the Bible.
Rome executes Jesus.
Since Caesar, Roman emperors have wanted their subjects to worship them as gods.
Because of this, he persecuted Judaism and Christianity, which rejected the emperor and sought only the one God, Jehovah.
However, in the 4th century, the Roman emperors who had been oppressing Christianity suddenly approved Christianity and designated it as the official religion of Rome.
From this point on, all of Europe began to believe in Christianity, and Christianity was able to spread throughout the world.
So why on earth did Rome suddenly accept Christianity?
--- From “Chapter 1 [Religion is a good material for power: Why Rome made Christianity the state religion] (page 14)”
There is a famous story about the Mongols throwing plague-infected corpses from catapults into the castle of Kaffa in Europe to capture it.
…This is the record of Gabriele de Mussis, who lived in the city of Piacenza, Italy.
“They ordered the corpses to be put into catapults and hurled into the city, hoping that the unbearable stench from the corpses would kill everyone in the city.
A mountainous pile of corpses was thrown into the city, and the Christians threw as many corpses as they could into the sea, but they could not hide or escape from the pile of corpses.
…a small number of infected sailors escaped Kaffa Castle by boat.
Some ships headed for Genoa, others for Venice or other Christian lands.”
But before we blindly believe the records claiming that the Black Death was spread by the Mongols, there is something we should consider first.
'When the Mongol Empire invaded, how did Europeans want to describe Mongolia?'
They must have wanted to curse at us all, record us as the worst Xs in the world, and record that it was all because of 'Mongolia'.
In fact, in many records, Europeans portray the Mongols as demons.
In other words, we must be cautious when viewing the content of the Mongols recorded by medieval Europeans.
The same goes for records of the Black Death.
'Those evil Mongols deliberately spread the Black Death in Europe.'
However, we should not be certain that the Mongols spread the Black Death to Europe based on these records alone.
--- 「Chapter 4 [The King is not at fault.
From "They Are the Devil: The Black Death and the Persecution of the Jews" (pp. 152-153)
In 1894, the German Reform Party merged with the anti-Semitic German Socialist Party to form the German Social Reform Party.
And they make promises that really cross the line.
“The complete separation and final extermination of the Jews.”
The word extinction means that individuals of a particular species disappear completely from the Earth.
The official political party had pledged to completely wipe out the Jews from the world.
Before criticizing that party, we must note that that party 'could' have made such a promise.
In other words, at the time in Germany, there must have been some people who supported the crazy promise of exterminating the Jews, and that's why politicians made such promises and sold votes.
…Germany was devastated by World War I, and on top of that, it suffered the Great Depression (1929-1939) that swept the world from 1929 onwards.
The country changed, the political and economic systems changed, but the people's lives did not improve.
Political system words like capitalism, liberalism, and democracy were simply unfamiliar to the people and were of no help in their daily lives.
Rather, it is more likely that there was antipathy towards the new system.
In this situation, Hitler of Nazi Germany emerged and promised to lead the revival of the great Germanic people, saying that the Jews were the cause of their suffering and that he would purge the Jews, who were like devils, and bring about an era of peace. It was not at all surprising that the German people showed great support.
Nationalism, anti-Semitism, and even promises that the state would take responsibility for its citizens—wouldn't all these have sounded too sweet to the German people, whose lives had been hardened by a series of disasters?

Publisher's Review
Why read it as 'power'?
The author of this book, Hyogisim, experienced firsthand while working as a YouTuber that there were so many people suffering from 'political illness'.
'Political disease' is a word used to mock people who interpret everything in the world by connecting it to 'politics'.
Just as people suffering from depression are prone to cults, I've also learned that lonely people are prone to political illness.
So, through the medium of books, I tried to express the thoughts that I had not been able to express on YouTube.
This book is a history book written with a focus on those in power.
Those in power have always existed throughout human history.
No matter how much we hate them, they will be with us through our lives until we die.
In the form of a president, prime minister, king, etc.
This book is Hyogisim's first book and deals with powerful figures in European history.
It clearly shows how many citizens have been incited by those in power under the pretext of serving the people.
Why do kings and nobles
Would you have supported Martin Luther's religious reformation?
The Middle Ages were a time when the authority of the Pope and the Catholic Church was immense, and like stagnant water, the Vatican also became corrupt.
A good example of this is the sale of indulgences.
Seeing this state of the Vatican, people began to rebel, saying that Catholicism was rotten.
A representative figure is Martin Luther.
The Vatican branded those who opposed them as heretics and even executed them.
But this method didn't always work.
It wasn't just professors and theologians who were dissatisfied with the Vatican.
Not only did powerful kings and lords support and protect Martin Luther, they also began to rise up and criticize the papacy.
But it's strange.
Weren't the kings and barons in cahoots with the papacy? Why did those in power, who had remained silent while the papacy deteriorated, suddenly turn their backs on it when Martin Luther emerged?
In 1302, Pope Boniface VIII began to assert that all worldly and spiritual power belonged to the Pope.
And over time, all the power and money in the world actually flows to the Roman Catholic Pope.
In the 16th century, when Martin Luther was active, clergymen were amassing large amounts of private property in each region and working in collusion with the Pope to ensure that money and power continued to accumulate for themselves.
It was a time when the power of the ‘pope’ and ‘clergy’ was overwhelmingly stronger than that of the king and the nobles.
As a result, the local kings, nobles, and lords were enthusiastic about Martin Luther and supported him.
Martin Luther's Reformation was not simply an explosion of anger against the corrupt Roman Catholic Church, but a rebellion by the nobles, princes, and kings who had been bowing down to the Pope.
The pandemic 700 years ago,
The Black Death and anti-Jewish hatred
There was a pandemic 700 years ago that plunged all of Europe into hell.
It is the Black Death.
The Black Death, which suddenly spread across Europe around 1347, killed nearly 20 million people between 1348 and 1350.
There's something that never goes away in a pandemic like this.
It's a conspiracy theory.
The target was Jews.
At that time, the city's financial industry was dominated by Jews, who lent money only to the nobility.
As a result, the common people came to view Jews as 'bad guys who were slandering their superiors.'
A conspiracy theory became popular that a rabbi, a Jewish religious leader, distributed poison to Jewish communities throughout Europe and poisoned the wells of Christians to take revenge on the Jews who had been oppressed.
At that time, there were many Jews with a wealth of medical knowledge, so many Jews worked as doctors not only in Europe but also in Islamic regions.
That's why it seems that Jews vaguely thought that they would be good at making poison.
This 'brain official', combined with anti-Semitism and fear of the Black Death, gave rise to an absurd conspiracy theory.
The most important thing in a pandemic situation is to protect the people from the disease.
But instead, medieval Europeans portrayed the Jews, a minority, as demons who spread the Black Death.
The coronavirus pandemic, which began in Wuhan, China on November 17, 2019, and spread globally, has since led to a wave of anti-Asian hate crimes in North America and Europe.
But will cursing the Chinese solve the coronavirus problem? There's something we must never forget.
The point is that hate doesn't solve anything.
Why do the French
Would you have chosen imperial politics after the revolution?
The French people who had caused the Great Revolution supported Napoleon's imperial politics in 1804, which were far from freedom and equality.
In 1795, Napoleon was promoted to Commander of the Interior after suppressing a royalist coup.
And in 1796, he took office as commander of the overseas expeditionary force and achieved a great victory in battle against the advancing Austrian army.
Napoleon, who became a national hero, went on an expedition to Egypt, but the French Directory had another reason for sending Napoleon to Egypt.
Napoleon's rising approval ratings meant that he might later become a coup d'état force.
It was necessary to deliberately send Napoleon away to cut off the people's attention.
However, Napoleon's popularity in France showed no signs of waning.
Napoleon's popularity was due to the people's disappointment with the French government.
The French people had no hope for the government that was unable to solve anything.
For this reason, they did not care much about the defeat and flight of the national hero Napoleon in Egypt.
Napoleon seemed a far greater alternative than the politicians who had been in turmoil for the past ten years after the French Revolution.
Moreover, Napoleon was a man with an incredible talent for image making.
A representative example is the painting [Napoleon Bonaparte Visiting Plague Victims in Jaffa].
In the painting, Napoleon does not stay away from plague patients, but approaches them and talks to them as if he were the second coming of Jesus performing a miracle.
In May 1804, the French Senate proclaimed Napoleon, First Consul for Life, as Emperor.
In France, which had driven out the monarchy by shouting for freedom and equality just a few years ago, a dictatorship far removed from democracy, a politics of the 'emperor', began.
That's because the people themselves wanted it.
We know the French Revolution as a product of liberty, equality, and fraternity.
But in fact, liberty, equality, and fraternity were just one of many slogans during the French Revolution.
This became the official spirit of the Third Republic (1870-1940), which was launched 100 years after the French Revolution.
And that spirit continues to be the official spirit of France to this day.
Liberty, equality, and fraternity were slogans born during the French Revolution, but in reality they were merely political tools of the Third Republic that emerged after the fall of Napoleon.
Beyond the fence of the sanctuary
With true history
These are topics that anyone interested in history will have heard of in this book.
But there are many things about these events that are not well known.
The reason why such information is not known to the public is because of the ‘sanctuary’.
The state provides its citizens with a sanctuary of history.
And they want to make the people feel proud of their country's history, even if it means lying and hiding the truth.
Like a water purifier filter, the history that cannot be spoken of is filtered out, and only the history that can be spoken of is made into textbooks or books.
And people develop stereotypes through history that passes through that filter, and they feel uncomfortable when they encounter history they have never heard of.
In this book, we have attempted to remove the fences of sanctuary and take a closer look at the true history.
I recommend readers to read it.
