Into the book
Any act of displaying special abilities is condemned by the saints.
The Persian mystic Abu Said once ridiculed some fakirs (Islamic monks) who boasted of the miracles of being able to submerge in water, float in the air, and be in several places at the same time.
He pointed out with a polite sarcasm.
"Even frogs build their nests in the water! Crows and eagles soar effortlessly through the air, and the devil appears in both the east and the west simultaneously! A true human being is one who lives in harmony with his neighbors, practices justice, and engages in trade without ever forgetting God!" (100 pages)

“Master, when will I be able to find God?”
“You have already found God.”
“I haven’t found it yet.”
The guru was smiling.

“I know very well that you are not expecting a revered personage wearing a crown in some pristine place in the universe.
But you think that possessing miraculous powers is proof that you have found God.
Even if you gain the ability to control the entire universe, you can still lose God.
Spiritual progress is not measured by outward manifestations of power, but only by the depth of the joy attained in meditation.
God is always a new joy.
It is inexhaustible.” 255-256p

All thoughts vibrate eternally in the universe.
Through deep meditation, the Master was able to discern the thoughts of living and dead people at will.
Thoughts do not belong to the individual, but to the universe.
Truth is not created, it is simply perceived.
Human error is the result of imperfect discernment.
The purpose of the science of yoga is to quiet the mind so that one can hear the infallible advice of the inner voice as it is.
265p

Yoga is one way to suppress the natural agitation of thoughts.
If one does not suppress one's turbulent thoughts, then all people in all lands will not perceive the true nature of the Great Soul within themselves.
Yoga, like the healing rays of the sun, is equally beneficial to everyone, East and West.
Most people are restless and moody.
Herein lies the obvious need for yoga.
Yoga is the science of mind control.
368p

A wise person is one who does not merely read the ancient revelations, but strives with all his heart to realize them.
Solve all your problems through meditation.
Instead of engaging in useless religious speculation, try to actually meet God.
Cleanse away all dogmatic theological rubbish.
Let the fresh, healing stream of direct perception flow through your heart.
Follow the active voice of your inner 'guide'.
529p

The plausible image of life that the soul projects onto the cells of the body is the only reason why humans are obsessed with the body.
Who could possibly devote such fervent devotion to a lump of clay? The current of life from the soul, transmitted through the breath to the body, possesses such a powerful force that it causes humans to mistakenly believe that their bodies possess real life, believing that the effects are the causes.
Because of this, humans fall into the foolishness of identifying themselves with the form of the body.

Publisher's Review
The only book stored on Steve Jobs' iPad
The wisdom of intuition and insight that opens up a world of infinite creativity.

Walter Isaacson, who wrote the biography of Steve Jobs, was unexpectedly impressed by Jobs' iPad.
That's because the device of the person who created the iPad that took people all over the world by storm had only one book stored on it.
It was 『Yogananda, Autobiography of a Yogi』, which Jobs first read in his teens and then encountered again during a trip to India in his twenties, and which he reads once a year thereafter.
Jobs stayed with this book his entire life.
In particular, the wisdom of intuition and insight gained through meditation was a great inspiration to him.
When Jobs's humanistic sensibility and scientific talent combined through intuition, innovative products that changed the world were born.
The intuition that comes from intense concentration and the insight that penetrates the essence have created a world of infinite creativity.

A profound and enriching spiritual pilgrimage leading to ultimate freedom and happiness.

Yogananda says that only by living this kind of life can we experience the divinity within us and realize the truth that the essence of humanity is God and the universe itself.
And all this, they teach, can be achieved through the Indian practice of yoga and meditation, which control the mind.
Selected as one of the best spiritual books of the 20th century, this book will awaken the ignorant souls sleeping in the darkness and serve as a bright beacon for all who wish to live a life closer to their essence.

A spiritual leader who led the era of spirituality beyond the age of science.
The greatest envoy who introduced India's yogic science and age-old tradition of meditation practice to the West.

Yogananda was born in Gorakhpur, India in 1893.
A famous Taoist, seeing him in his mother's arms, prophesied that he would become a yogi and lead the spiritual locomotive, taking countless souls to the kingdom of God.
The prophecy came true.
Yogananda, who had been seeking out saints since childhood, entered the path of spiritual enlightenment in earnest at the age of 17, devoting himself to meditation and yoga practice at the ashram of a teacher he had met by fate.
And after five years of training, he finally fulfills his long-held desire to become a monk.
He founded a yoga school for boys and began teaching there before moving to the United States at the age of 27.
The goal was to spread India's yoga philosophy and meditation practices to the West, and to serve as a foundation for spiritual exchange and harmony between the East and the West.
It was a mission like destiny for him.

Yogananda achieved remarkable results in a foreign land where he knew no one.
Thousands of Americans, dreaming of freedom, filled auditoriums to hear him speak, and requests for large-scale speaking engagements followed, even leading to transcontinental speaking tours.
His teachings have had a profound influence on people in various fields, including economics, science, art, and politics.
He was invited to the White House to give a special lecture, and major media outlets reported on his activities with interest.
Many people became Yogananda's disciples and received Kriya Yoga, the culmination of India's ancient yoga science.

Yogananda founded the Self-Realization Society, a non-denominational spiritual practice that transcended religion, ideology, race, and culture, and established meditation centers in major cities across the United States, opening the door to inner enlightenment for many people.
He spent his life carrying out his mission as a guide who leads people into a profound spiritual world, conveying the essence of profound religion that experientially recognizes God.
These efforts earned him the acclaim of being "the greatest ambassador to the West for India's yogic science and age-old tradition of meditation practice."

In his pursuit of truth, Yogananda associated with many great teachers.
Mahatma Gandhi, the saint of non-violence; Rabindranath Tagore, the poet known to us as the light of the East; and Luther Burbank, the American horticulturalist who scientifically proved that the waves of love promote plant growth, are all souls of the century who influenced their times.
Yogananda, nourished by his encounters with these outstanding intellectuals, was reborn as a spiritual leader who would lead the age of spirituality beyond the age of science.

Walking the Path of Truth with the Greatest Yogi of the 20th Century
“Free yourself from illusion and realize that you are the truth and the universe.”

For Yogananda, there was only one truth: the realization that each of us is God, light, and the universe.
He believed that all religions fundamentally share the same truth.
Therefore, the distinction between Hinduism and Buddhism, Christianity and Islam was meaningless.
The distinction between humanities, science, and art was also unnecessary.
It was important for us to become aware of God ourselves.
It is the process of recognizing and experiencing that I myself am the universe.
Yogananda says that to do this, one must first break free from the illusions of the universe.
The illusion that the body is mine, the misunderstanding that the fluctuating emotions are mine, the dream that the world unfolding before my eyes is real.
This is welcome.
Yoga and meditation practices give us the intuitive eye to see through these illusions.
By calming your mind and focusing your mind in meditation, you will develop the power of intuition that goes beyond the five senses, and through this, you will gain the ability to see through the essence behind illusions.
When you learn to distinguish between illusion and reality, truth and falsehood, you will be free from attachment and attain ultimate freedom.
It teaches that those who discover their true self will live a life of spiritual progress and ultimately reach the ultimate happiness of becoming one with God.

Hitting the target of essence with scientific and clear language

This book also vividly records eyewitness accounts of the extraordinary lives and miraculous abilities of modern Indian saints.
They can appear in more than one place at a time, resurrect the dead, pluck food from the air, and live for 56 years without taking a sip of water.
He builds a golden palace at the foot of the Himalayas and then makes it disappear in an instant.
These amazing miracles, which are difficult for ordinary people to understand, do not sound like lies or myths, but rather as stories that are completely possible in reality, thanks to Yogananda's scientific and friendly explanations.
Yogananda's language is that clear.
No matter how profound the content, it elicits empathy through an interesting and clear narrative.
Even when explaining the difficult-to-imagine afterlife or the experience of cosmic consciousness, it strikes the mark of essence and portrays it persuasively.

A classic of the spiritual world that sparked wisdom and love in the lives of 6 million readers worldwide.

Yogananda, Autobiography of a Soul has ignited a spark of wisdom and love in the lives of not only seekers but also countless creative individuals.
It was first introduced in Korea in 1984 by Jeongshinsegye Publishing Company under the title “Yogananda the Seeker,” and has now been republished by Tran Publishing Company with a new translation by the same translator.

Whenever the Venerable Pomnyun visited California, USA, he stopped by the meditation center founded by Yogananda.
Facing the vast Pacific Ocean, this ashram is a beautiful blend of meditation caves carved into steep cliffs, rose gardens, eucalyptus forests, and sparkling lakes, creating a special atmosphere that naturally draws all who visit.

George Harrison, the 'philosopher of the Beatles', kept a stack of Yogananda's autobiography at home and gave a copy to everyone who visited.
I read this book to people when they wanted to redesign their lives.
Because I believed that it contained the truth that runs through the core of all religions.
