Author Park Sang-ha, widely known for his research on Lee Byung-chul and Chung Ju-yung, introduced Lee Byung-chul, who was selected as one of the “500 Korean Figures,” to readers through “I am Lee Byung-chul,” and then immediately completed “I am Chung Ju-yung,” providing an opportunity to examine Lee Byung-chul and Chung Ju-yung, the two giants who laid the foundation for the Korean economy, together.

Born the eldest son of a very poor farmer, his starting point was a humble local rice shop called 'Kyungil Sanghoe', which he opened at the age of 24.

The words that represent Chung Ju-young are ‘patience’ and ‘the power of belief.’
Chung Ju-yung, who always emphasizes the 'lesson of the beggar' of never giving up and doing his best until the end, demonstrates his tremendous strength by building the Gyeongbu Expressway between Seoul and Busan.
He eventually rose to become a top manager, managing dozens of domestic affiliated companies, including automobile and construction companies.
He said, 'There is no reason.
He shouts, 'Everyone, follow me!' and takes the lead.
The results he achieved by using the time given equally to everyone were enormous.
And then he jumped right into the heart of political power.
Although Chung Ju-yung's legend ended in defeat, his small experiences expanded into a larger reality, creating Korea's top management group.
Although Chung Ju-young's Hyundai family has branched off into several branches, his dreams and spirit are still alive and well as unfulfilled dreams, and are still ongoing.

We cannot help but ask whether his will, which has already passed, can have any value or grammar in today's history.
Moreover, no matter how plausible a management strategy he discovered and implemented, it is not easy to apply it to the current situation.
It is by no means easy to embody and practice one's own management in the reality of environment, conditions, history, and emotions.
But there is something that must be made clear first.
Despite such questions and grammar, the fact is that his will is still valid in our environment, conditions, history and emotions.
Above all, we see that Chung Ju-young's will is closely related to our unique environment, conditions, culture, and emotions, which have hindered the practical application of the numerous grammars imported from overseas.
It is true that no other competency is as suitable for a leader who leads our company, a very delicate and special organization, as his 'unique beliefs'.
The spectrum that has expanded the boundless imagination and scope of creative management, by strengthening our own unique traditional values and differentiating ourselves with a rarity no one has yet experienced, stems from the conviction that it is entirely contained in the power of our own convictions.
It is my conviction that, depending on the positions we occupy, we can rediscover and incarnate the power of our own will, which we have long forgotten and overlooked, just as we draw water from a well.
