100-year economics
100-year economics
Description
Book Introduction
With 2025 on the verge of entering a super-aged society, the publication of this book is very timely.
I have been working in land development and urban planning for the past 30 years and have witnessed the rapid urbanization and industrialization of our country.
And now we are witnessing an equally rapid aging population that is fundamentally changing the face of our land and cities.

Particularly noteworthy in this book are the chapters on 'silver immigration' and 'local regeneration'.
Amid the double whammy of concentration in the metropolitan area and the decline of local economies, the author's proposal to transform aging into an opportunity for balanced regional development is highly innovative.
In fact, our research indicates that relocating to rural areas can not only reduce annual living expenses by 40%, but also significantly contribute to the revitalization of local economies.

The author's proposed plan to create "10 Silver-Specialized Cities" is not just an idea; it is a feasible policy alternative.
In particular, the case of Japan's Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and the reinterpretation of the US Sun City model to suit the Korean situation are contents that policymakers must refer to.

This book is not just an economics book.
This is the blueprint for the future of the Republic of Korea.
This is a must-read for policymakers, businesspeople, and all citizens who will live in the 100-year era.
This book will serve as a concrete policy roadmap, especially for local government heads and urban planners.

Finally, I would like to make one suggestion to the author.
I would like to ask you to write a follow-up work, “National Land Plan for the 100-Year Era,” to realize the vision of this book.
We are in dire need of new national spatial structures, urban designs, and housing models suited to a super-aging society.
The 100-year lifespan is an opportunity, not a threat.
I hope this book will be the first step toward making that opportunity a reality.

Publisher's Review
In 2025, South Korea will enter a super-aged society, with people aged 65 and over accounting for over 20% of the population.
Many consider this a national disaster.
They predict that pensions will be depleted, health care costs will skyrocket, and growth will stall.
But is that really true?

The decisive factor that led me to write this book was the words of a venture capitalist I met in Silicon Valley.
"If Korea were to be the first to experience a super-aging society, wouldn't it be the first to develop solutions? Wouldn't that be the greatest business opportunity of the 21st century?"

He was right.
A crisis is an opportunity.
Especially, a crisis that you experience before others can become a greater opportunity.
Just as it did in semiconductors, shipbuilding, and automobiles, South Korea can now lead the world in "silvernomics."

This book is not simply a warning or a voice of concern.
We present specific and feasible Korean solutions.
We aim to provide individuals with a compass for life planning as we enter the age of 100, companies with new business opportunities, and governments with a policy roadmap.

Above all, the message I want to convey through this book is hope.
A super-aged society is not an end, but a new beginning.
The 100-year economy we will create will be an inclusive growth model where all generations, regardless of age, grow and prosper together.
