This book consists of a total of 15 chapters.

Chapter 1, 'Basics of Child Welfare', covers the concept of children, the concept and significance of child welfare, prerequisites, and key principles.

Chapter 2, "Children's Rights," examines the basic concepts of children's rights, the main contents of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, children's rights in Korea, and ways to promote children's participation in child welfare practices.

In Chapter 3, 'Child Development,' we looked at the flow of child development theory, the stages of physical, linguistic, cognitive, and social development of children, and the main characteristics and signs of abnormal development in each area.

Chapter 4, "The Evolution of Child Welfare," examines the evolution of child welfare in foreign countries and the history and formation of major systems in Korea, and suggests future directions.

Chapter 5, 'Child Welfare Targets and Service Classification,' examines the targets of child welfare, the types and characteristics of children in need of protection, and the standards and current status of service classification.

Chapter 6, 'Child Welfare Policy and Related Laws,' examines the concept and principles of child welfare policy, the current status of policy, child welfare legal basis, and enforcement system.

Chapter 7, 'Child Welfare Practice Process and Techniques' presents the roles and practice techniques of social workers in each intervention process, as well as the main tasks in practice for individuals, groups, and families.

Chapter 8, “Children in Poverty,” examines the concepts of poverty and child poverty, as well as the causes, current status, and related policies of child poverty.

Chapter 9, ‘Children with Disabilities,’ covers the definition, current status, needs, systems, and future tasks of children with disabilities.

Chapter 10, “Children in Crisis,” examines the types of children in crisis, including children and adolescents outside the home, adolescents in family care, and children and adolescents who are delinquent or criminals.

Chapter 11, "Child Safety and Health," examines child safety accidents, disasters, missing children, health, hunger, the digital environment, and addiction.

Chapter 12, ‘Child Care’, introduces the concept, types, current status and challenges of child care services, and the role of social workers.

Chapter 13, "Child Abuse and Child Protection Services," examines the concept, causes, consequences, and current state of child abuse, as well as related laws, systems, and preventive measures.

Chapter 14, “Children’s Protection in Institutions,” covers the current state of the child protection system and institutional protection, as well as services and challenges related to youth preparing for independence.

Chapter 15, “Foster Care and Adoption,” presents the history, definitions, targets, types, and provision procedures of the two systems, along with key issues and improvement measures.
