Social Welfare Administration Theory
Social Welfare Administration Theory
Description
Book Introduction
This book was planned based on deep reflection on the changing status and role of social welfare administration, and aims to be an educational and practical textbook that balances theory and practice.
The overall structure is systematically organized to enable undergraduate students majoring in social welfare to gradually understand the structure and logic of social welfare administration and then effectively utilize it in practical settings.

Part 1.
The Fundamentals and Theoretical Basis of Social Welfare Administration summarizes the key theoretical foundations of social welfare administration, including its concepts, developmental processes, and organizational theory, and is structured to enable students to form a framework for a structural understanding of administration.

Part 2.
In understanding social welfare organizations and delivery systems, the structure and types of social welfare organizations, organizational environments, design principles of delivery systems, and practical operational strategies were described, with the aim of improving the practical capabilities of organizational units.

Part 3.
The core functions and practical skills of social welfare administration are organized around core skills in actual administrative practice, such as planning, decision-making, personnel, leadership, supervision, marketing, financial management, and information management.
We provide specific examples for each function and present practical solutions for how to apply them in social welfare settings.
This ensures that it goes beyond theoretical concepts and connects to knowledge that can be applied in actual fields.
By fostering an organic connection between theory and practice, we aim to enable learners to understand social welfare administration from a more integrated perspective.

Part 4.
In realizing the values of social welfare administration and responding to the future, we deeply examined strategies for realizing core values that social welfare organizations should pursue in the long term, such as ethics, accountability, change management, innovation, and organizational culture.
This can be seen as an attempt to go beyond the traditional approach of focusing on short-term performance and lay the foundation for organizations to operate in a sustainable and responsible manner.

This book focuses on capturing both theoretical precision and the vividness of the field.
In particular, the following three criteria were consistently applied in the composition of each chapter.
First, it presents a balanced presentation of theories specialized in social welfare organizations and domestic and international actual cases.
Second, we provide specific guidance on strategies that can be practically applied to issues that recurring in practice.
Third, the step-by-step narrative structure was maintained consistently to avoid disconnection between theory and field experience.

The purpose of writing this book was to go beyond simply imparting academic knowledge.
Having taught social welfare administration at a university for over 20 years, the author has witnessed the difficulties many students face in understanding concepts and theories.
In particular, there were many cases where the theory felt disconnected from reality because the link between administration and practice was not understood.
Accordingly, this book focuses on explaining concepts in a way that students can easily access. It also faithfully reflects questions and answers, discussions, and assignment feedback shared with students during lectures to best reflect the learners' level of understanding and actual needs.
