I still have to eat lunch though
Description
Book Introduction
A work life where perseverance is the answer
But there is one joy that you can never give up!
A food story I want to share with you, who made it through today safely.
Some days, a storm rages in my heart, making me want to resign immediately, and other days, the weather clears up and I exclaim, “But there is no company better than this.”
Why is it so extreme? Aren't all office workers struggling, crying and laughing, within that endless cycle?
'I' am an ordinary office worker who has somehow managed to work at the same company for 15 years.
My goal, which has already become a dead end, is to persevere and retire.
Countless colleagues, seniors, and juniors have left the company, and I, too, have faced similar challenges. How did I manage to stay? Was it because I'm good? Or, conversely, because I'm incompetent? One day, as I pondered this, I suddenly remembered my colleagues, who clung to each other like water ghosts, and the lunch I shared with them.
Because it was a legally set time, I felt like it would be a loss if I didn't eat, so I thought I had to eat to survive even though it was a hassle, so sometimes I went out because of an appointment and came back after eating a lot.
And every time, my rice friends helped me open up my stuffy chest.
Thanks to you, I will definitely be able to go to work today and tomorrow.
So, who are you having lunch with and what are you having for lunch today?
But there is one joy that you can never give up!
A food story I want to share with you, who made it through today safely.

Author's Note
Chapter 1.
I'm into this these days
How is the sundae gukbap situation?
I might not be able to eat chueotang
Are you into pasta right now?
To you who is as full as budaejjigae
Life is better than a newborn
In an era where even a single meal is a burden
I hope you smile brightly today
Chapter 2.
Thanks to you, I ate well
Please mix it half and half
I sprinkled some CCCC and ate some taffy.
In search of a kalguksu mate
I need to take some nutritional supplements to survive
It must be so easy to make a living
I would never starve you
Chapter 3.
Who did you eat with today?
If you eat pork cutlet with me, I won't eat it.
I'm squirming like an octopus
Even an iron rice bowl is an iron rice bowl if you hold on to it.
There is no such thing as an eternal meal buddy.
Should I buy you some kimbap?
How to fix a burst dumpling
Aren't you really tired of it?
Chapter 4.
Why do you keep asking me to eat?
Eat Jjamppong and relax
The power of sharing a meal together
There's no such thing as a side dish that's just gossiping.
Okay, is the buffet there good?
I can tolerate it because it's Korean beef
It'll be that old
Chapter 5.
Even if you starve, the company won't notice
Chicken legs and breasts
Run! Bangye-tang Open Run!
Please give me the Pakchim Burger set
Let's eat before we go
Adults' Yukgaejang is bitter
Slurp slurp cup ramen on the way to work
Will there ever come a day when making a living becomes easy?

Into the book
“I ate well.
What is there to live for?
If you eat a good meal, you've had a good day.
let's go."
Is it because it's after a meal?
The famous quote from Babcrates resonates.
It's not the premium new apartment you see over there, but I have a place to sleep and I have money to buy a bowl of noodles like this, so it seems like a decent life.
Oh, I don't know.
When you are full, everything becomes peaceful.
--- p.17
The same goes for honorable retirement.
You've been around a lot, so you're telling me to leave honorably with your own hands? Are you telling me to leave after taking at least some of my last bit of honor, even if it means speaking nicely?
Get out when you can.
Before you see the bad things.
Where would any employee take that as good faith?
--- p.57
To prove his professionalism, he acts as a humanoid.
I don't have any feelings, so I don't care.
So, you too, don't show any humanity.
I'm not curious.
There is no need for a back and forth, just let it work.
Work! Work!
--- p.88
“Shall I buy you some kimbap?” I didn’t always readily accept their invitations, but it was a signal of sorts.
There's someone worried about my every meal.
There was someone by my side who wished for my well-being.
The intangible thing seemed to be a panacea, calming the intense pain and suppressing the rising tide of blood.
--- p.143
Maybe that work-related anxiety is just self-hypnosis.
Moreover, I am already doing the same.
Even though the words "I'm dying, I'm dying" stick to me like chili powder, even though the grumbling stings like garlic, I have neither the courage nor the skill to break out of this sturdy kimchi jar.
--- p.202
Sometimes I feel ashamed of myself for always going through this.
But thanks to that, I was able to eat and live.
I can't just resign every time something like this happens.
We have to pretend that it has been resolved, even if only for a little while.
It's admirable to live while trying, so let's say you've become seasoned in the world.
If I don't recognize it, who will?

Publisher's Review
In an era where resignation is a trend,
The goal is retirement
A 30-year-old veteran office worker
MSG-Free Empathy Essay
Anyone who has worked knows.
Work is an object of love and hate that cannot be defined in a single word.
It is my face that represents me as a member of society and it is a precious workplace that supports my life, but sometimes I have to give up all my pride to protect it.
It goes without saying that you have to work hard, but you also have to be mindful of your superiors.
Office life is like running on a hamster wheel.
In it, the joys and sorrows of office workers bloom.
But there are also moments of energy at work.
It's lunchtime! As if they'd been waiting all morning for this moment, someone shouts, "Let's eat!" Everyone's face lights up with a smile.
Yeah, that's right.
This is the taste I go to work for.
This book is an honest and candid account of a 30-something office worker's survival at work.
The writer has been quietly enduring the corporate life that he believes is all about endurance, and has now become a veteran of 15 years and a manager of 8 years.
I wonder what kind of pleasure I can find in an office where my life is planned out for 10 years from now, but I try hard not to miss out on the fun of eating.
I safely got to work today, looking forward to lunch with someone I'm happy to see!

Office people
They say that the workplace is a cruel world of survival of the fittest.
There must be some people who say that interpersonal relationships are more difficult than work.
The author of this book was in the same situation.
During those difficult times, when I first started working, chores piled up one by one, and no matter how hard I worked, my superiors would come up with ridiculous excuses like hyenas looking for prey to discourage me.
One day, as usual, I was called out to do some chores.
I was struggling with whether I should do this or not, when an angelic senior showed up and took care of all the piling up work.
I thought it was a dark time when no one would know, but my senior said that it was like that for everyone back then and gave me comfort like sunshine.
Someone else patted me, gave me a snack, or bought me food.
That moment of care gave me courage and strength, and now, as a 15-year veteran, I go to work looking forward to lunch with someone I'm glad to see.
Set in an office with a lot of work and incidents, the author vividly conveys the joys and sorrows of office workers through the lunch menu.
I hope you feel a warm sense of empathy as you watch the sight of someone so similar to us, an ordinary person, healing even a wounded heart with a delicious lunch menu.
