Private discoveries become everyone's inspiration
A record of the originality of me, you, and all of us

The first book of Won's Monologue, a unique and emotional creator who has inspired countless people with his sensuous directing and profound narrative, has been published by Film.
This book contains sketches of what led up to the current YouTube [Won's Monologue], as well as more raw records that were not previously shared.
There are many people who have been waiting for the book 'One's Monologue', which is loved by numerous creators and subscribers.
His videos are uploaded once every two months, sometimes once a month, but even then, they still get hundreds of comments.
The film continues to receive rave reviews from those who were inspired by its philosophical message as well as its unique visual beauty, such as “artistic visual beauty,” “goosebumps-inducing thrills,” and “perfect narrative.”

Comedian Yoo Byung-jae, who read 『Monologue of a Circle』 first and left a recommended commentary, said, “I want to subscribe to this book, which is not even a periodical publication.” Actor Ryu Deok-hwan said, “Let’s monologue.
The world doesn't care about me.
He sent a recommendation saying, “The only thing that can interest me is ‘my monologue,’” and expressed his hope that this book would reach many people and lead to their own monologues.
The author, Seungwon Lim, also said that although the story began as a 'monologue of a circle', he hopes that the book will eventually become a monologue for everyone, and that through continuous conversation, they can understand each other and move forward together.

I hope that 『Monologue of the Circle』, which begins with 'discovery', 'inspiration', and 'and', will become an unexpected 'discovery' for some and a starting point for sharing tastes and thoughts.
To be an 'inspiration' that leads some people to another world beyond the frame.
Furthermore, I hope that this will be an opportunity for each person to draw their own 'circle' and connect with the 'and' point to record their own monologue.

Into the book
I spent most of the remaining semester on campus alone.
At home, on the train, during breaks, even while eating.
College life, which had become filled with boredom instead of excitement, had become a loading screen that I wanted to quickly pass by.
Every time that happened, I would take out my smartphone without fail.
Over the years, smartphone screens have gotten bigger and their picture quality has gotten clearer.
Instead, reality became insignificant and senses blurred.
---From "My Last Day at School"

There is a saying that developers consider to be a maxim.
“GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.” This literally means that garbage in, garbage out, meaning that if low-quality information goes in, the output will also be inaccurate.
It's such an obvious truth.
The structure of the head also seems similar.
Our brain is like a blender, so to speak.
What you put in will definitely come out.
Whether in thought, speech, writing, music, or video.
So, you should try to see the good things as much as possible.
At least, that's what I think is good.
---From "Minimalism"

Life is the same.
This game doesn't have a save function.
So we have to write it down.
A life without records is like a game of jars.
Memories of success, memories of failure, the reasons that explain my choices and actions at the time, the ideas in my head, all my achievements and lessons learned will quickly evaporate and disappear if not recorded.
No matter how heartbreaking the lesson, if you don't write it down, you'll eventually have to build it up again.
---From "Jar Game"

I couldn't stand it anymore so I got off the ten thousand won bus and walked towards home.
My pounding heart gradually calms down, and the scenery comes into view.
Let go of the desire to arrive quickly and focus on the scenery.
What I like is still there.
The vivid colors of the leaves, the city lights reflecting on the wet road, the sound of rain on an umbrella.
The ride home soon stretched to two hours.
But for some reason, I feel at ease.
Thanks to the hard facts.
That we will eventually get there.
---From "Let's Get Rained On"

Who will tell me what I should do and what I should like now?
To be free means, in other words, to be able to be bound anywhere.
Untethered to anything, I was easily and quickly captivated by anything that looked cool.
And I gave up my initiative and freedom.
To be free, you need a certain amount of control.
---From "On Freedom"

There will come a day when everything will fall into place perfectly.
But I will have changed a lot by then.
Remember that there are things you can think about now and things you can only do now.
So, don't wait until an expensive camera comes along.
Let's take a picture with the iPhone in our pocket right now.
When it comes to starting something, nothing is more important than will and passion.
---From "Taken with an iPhone"

Publisher's Review
A thought that can only be had now,
A feeling that can only be felt now,
The record of 'Won's Monologue', which I started because I didn't want to forget.

Author Seungwon Lim describes himself as someone with a poor memory.
This is also why he started keeping records.
Because I don't want to forget what I keep forgetting, because I don't want to forget the precious things I want to protect as I live.
So I often drew, monologued, and filmed videos.
The pleasant discoveries in everyday life, the ideas in your head, the countless sensations you can only feel in those moments that fill your heart, all the stories you want to tell will quickly evaporate and disappear if you don't record them.
The author says, “Life is like a game without a save function, so we have to write it down.
He emphasized that it was all thanks to records that he became a source of inspiration and helped him endure hardships, saying, “If you don’t record, you will eventually have to build it up again.”

The author's records, which are like a saving point in life, started with a video and continued into this book.
“I wrote this book to ensure that I don’t forget the principles I want to uphold as I live.
“This book is like a reminder to me,” said author Seungwon Lim. He expressed his sincere hope that readers of this book will continue their own monologues, or rather, record them, just as records served as a torch that brightly illuminated his path as he passed through a dark tunnel.

“As we go through life, we will try to remember many things, and we will also forget many things.
But there's just one thing I want to remember, something I keep forgetting.
The fact that everything will disappear someday.
“The fact that we all die.”

“Someday, I will be called ‘Im Seung-won’
“I hope this explains a lot.”
About me, living an independent life

As we live, we belong to quite a few groups and exist as one person among the group.
A sense of belonging can sometimes provide a sense of security and boost self-esteem.
Moreover, the title that appears three letters before my name feels pretty cool because it seems to describe me.
The author, too, submitted resumes to countless companies, hiding his shortcomings and emphasizing his strengths to get a fancy title, and if he was lucky, he even got an interview.
But the notice of elimination came without hesitation.
During that difficult process, the author pledged to live a life of 'choosing' rather than 'being chosen' in order to continue doing what he likes, and started the YouTube channel [Won's Monologue], and steadily uploaded records of the things he likes.

One day, “Hello.
“I am Seungwon Lim,” he repeated to himself. “I don’t like the feeling of being naked.
I feel like I have to hide somewhere.
“My name alone doesn’t fully describe me,” he confesses, expressing his fear of the unfamiliar feeling of being left with only the three letters of his name after a lifetime of belonging, but he says he hopes that ultimately, “I am Seungwon Lim” will explain a lot.

Through the author's writing, I realize once again that true independence may begin with the process of getting to know 'myself', that is, with writing.
To escape from all the provocative content, harsh words, and the thoughts and gazes of others, and continue the monologue that I want to tell.
Expressing and revealing my true self.
As these records pile up, wouldn't there eventually be more things I can explain about myself, whether I'm not necessarily placed under an affiliation or if I am placed under an affiliation?

As actor Ryu Deok-hwan said, let's "monologue."
And give me attention.
The world doesn't care about me.
“Because the only thing that can interest me is ‘my monologue.’” And let’s write it down.
Let us draw our own circles in our own worlds, meet again in a larger circle, and have a monologue together.
To become a little better person than I am now, to welcome a tomorrow that is a little more livable than today.

“This story is just a ‘possibility.’
Everyone has potential.
So, I guess you could say that since I, an ordinary person, was able to do it, it's the starting point of the possibility that you can do it too."
