A Guide to Coexistence with Stray Cats
Description
Book Introduction
Stray cats have become a part of the urban ecosystem.
How to live with them
The alley in front of the house, the flower bed of the building, the vacant lot in the neighborhood… … .
A stray cat that shows its presence several times a day.
The place we call the road is just a home to stray cats, and they have always been by our side.
Whether you like them or not, stray cats have become a part of the urban ecosystem, and it's time for us to acknowledge that and find ways to live with them.
『Guide to Coexistence with Stray Cats』 is a book that was created with the hope that it will be a small help and guide in this regard.
Author Lee Yong, a cat writer and 10-year 'cat daddy', was in charge of general parts such as the characteristics of stray cats, their growth process, and cat terminology, and the 'Korea Cat Protection Association (hereinafter referred to as the 'KCAA'), a cat protection civic group, was in charge of writing the cat mom activity guide, stray cat rescue, treatment, capture, and other TNR and medical parts.
The author's vivid photos of stray cats, filled with his affection, and the illustrator Bongji's cute cat drawings helped to understand aspects that cannot be expressed through words alone.
※Part of the proceeds from this book will be used to rescue and treat stray cats.

Publisher's Review
The author of 『Thank you, Hello Cat』, Lee Yong
Co-authored by the Korea Cat Protection Association
A Guide to Stray Cats for Cat Moms and Cat Lovers
A must-read before caring for a stray cat!
“We are already people with warmth.
We go out to meet our little friend, a stray cat, on the road in the pouring rain and snow.
I know that this one meal I give these guys may be the first and last meal of their lives.
I'll give you food today too.
It was a meeting with more tears, but today, I am building a deep connection with you who came to see me on a cold day without shoes.
“Our precious friendship that others cannot understand.”
A basic guidebook for people and stray cats to live happily together.
In the 14th century, when the Black Death was rampant, cats were identified as the main culprits of the disease and were massacred.
But the situation did not improve.
This is because the rodents that are actually the cats' food are what carry the plague bacteria.
In the late 2010s, more than 80 years later, the apartments along the Han River, the most popular area in Seoul, are suffering from an unexpected infestation of rats.
Even the mousetrap, which seemed to have disappeared long ago, has been revived.
It is because humans' hasty judgments have destroyed the balance of nature.
When the balance of nature, created by the diverse life forms, is destroyed by human greed, the result is a terrible disaster.
This is precisely why our ancestors who lived on Earth before us valued each and every life.
"A Guide to Coexistence with Stray Cats" shares the authors' know-how gained from years of experience caring for stray cats, so that stray cats, their moms, and their dads can be happier than they are now.
This book contains all the information and expert knowledge you need to know, including feeding stray cats, humane TNR methods, things to check before adopting a stray cat, how to persuade the other party in a fight over a stray cat, the recently emerging animal hoarding problem, and even feline toxoplasmosis.
It also provides simple solutions and alternatives to the questions and concerns that arise in various situations that arise while caring for stray cats.
Above all, it is important to note that the article emphasizes that social responsibility and continued interest are more important than vague sympathy for stray cats.
I applaud your courage in deciding to save a life.
Even while the book was being made, stories of cats being abused or killed continued to come in.
Unlike a decade ago when it was difficult to obtain even cat food, let alone cat supplies, there are now countless cat owners and cat content, and awareness of cats has improved remarkably. However, the majority of stray cats are still treated with contempt in Korea.
Many cat moms and cat dads say the same thing.
I met stray cats and learned the sparkle of life, and only after losing them did I realize the gratitude for life that welcomed me without asking for anything in return, and the pain of loss.
Author Lee Yong-han quoted an African proverb that says, “Countless little people in countless small places are doing countless little things that are changing the world,” and consoled the small efforts of cat moms and cat dads.
The world we live in cannot be transformed into a cat paradise overnight, but if we take steps like this, a better tomorrow awaits us.
"A Guide to Coexistence with Stray Cats" is a book written with the hope that it will provide warm comfort and strength to all those who struggle on the streets for stray cats.
I hope that this guide, like the wishes of Park Seon-mi, the head of the Korea Cat Association, will serve as a practical guide that will help reduce trial and error and provide comfort to novice cat moms who are just starting out on this path with an interest in stray cats.
