75 Years of Porsche
75 Years of Porsche
Description
Book Introduction
A culmination of innovation ahead of its time, Porsche's historic journey.
75 years of Porsche, bridging the boundaries of technology, design, and culture!

What began in 1948 with a single Porsche 356 soon became the first chapter in sports car history.
《75 Years of Porsche: Expect the Unexpected》 details how Porsche has set new standards for each era and become a symbol of technology, design, and culture over the past 75 years.
This book provides a three-dimensional account of Porsche's long history, from its legendary achievements in motorsports to the evolution of the brand.

The 917 that dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the prototype that won Group 5 and 6 stages, and the achievements of the TAG turbo engine in Formula 1 clearly show that Porsche is more than just an automobile manufacturer; it has become an absolute racing icon.
At the same time, the constant evolution of the 911, bold experiments like the 928 and Carrera GT, and innovations leading to the all-electric sports car Taycan prove that Porsche's DNA is about taking on challenges.

The Cayenne and Macan, which have redefined the SUV landscape, and the Panamera, which has set a new standard for luxury sedans, demonstrate that Porsche has always followed the path of expansion and rediscovery while maintaining its tradition.
This is a decisive proof of Porsche's journey of creating new stages in each era and expanding the brand's scope.
The rich collection of photographs and rare archival images goes beyond a simple chronology of Porsche, providing readers with an immersive experience that makes them feel as if they are experiencing 75 years of history firsthand.
《75 Years of Porsche: Expect the Unexpected》 will be an opportunity to rediscover the true meaning of the name Porsche not only for car enthusiasts but also for anyone interested in the intersection of design, technology, and culture.

Into the book
On March 21, 1951, the 500th Porsche Typ 356 model rolled off the assembly line at the Zuffenhausen plant.
Soon after, Porsche introduced a 1.3-liter engine with 44 horsepower.
And the engine delivered incredible performance for its time, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 19 seconds and reaching a top speed of 154.5 km/h.
Ferry prepared three coupes built at the Kmünd factory for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, model numbers 356 SL.
One of them crossed the finish line in first place in its category.
This marked Porsche's first victory in a major international race and established it as a manufacturer that will forever be remembered in the world of motorsports.
--- Chapter 5.
From 1950-1965, the popularity of the blue Porsche Typ 356 was so consistent that it transcended the times.

It's been decades since Porsche last competed in open-wheel car racing in Formula One and Formula Two in the early 1960s.
But curiosity about the race still remained.
No matter how active Porsche cars were in the various World Endurance Championships (WEC), open-wheel car racing, in which all four wheels protrude from the body of a single-seater car, was considered the true pinnacle of racing, and all other racing was considered to be nothing more than training or retirement activities.

Porsche plans to produce both battery-powered electric cars, plug-in hybrids, and cars with internal combustion engines for the foreseeable future.
Just days before the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche announced the Mission R model and various Taycan models.
And Frank-Steffen Walliser, the former head of racing and then in charge of the development and production of Porsche sports cars (Typ 911 and 718 model families), announced that the Typ 911 model would continue to be equipped with an internal combustion engine until 2040, drawing a round of applause from the more than 120 Porsche enthusiasts present.
