Into the book
On May 7, 1931, a massive criminal chase unfolded in New York.
An armed robber known as "Two-Gun Crowley," who fired dozens of bullets at police officers, was trapped in a New York apartment after a weeks-long manhunt.
Police surrounded the apartment, installed machine guns in surrounding buildings, and fired tear gas through a hole in the roof of the top-floor house.
Crowley hid behind a sofa and fired his gun at the police.
The murderer was arrested and was described as "the most dangerous criminal in New York history, killing people like insects."
But what did "Twin Gun Crowley" himself think of himself? He was writing letters even as bullets rained down on his apartment.
“I am tired and worn out, but I have a warm heart.
“It is a heart that does not want to harm anyone even a little.”
He spoke calmly at the execution ground in the prison.
“I was just trying to protect myself, and this is what happened.”
This heinous murderer showed no remorse for anything he did.
Is Crowley's attitude particularly unusual? Even Al Capone, the brutal gangster who rocked Chicago with gunfire, didn't consider himself guilty.
He thought he had done the favor himself and was upset that people misunderstood him.
“I have dedicated my life to bringing joy to people.
But all I got in return was criticism.”
“The warden of New York’s most notorious prison, Sing Sing, said Rose.
“Criminals rarely think of themselves as bad people.
He rationalizes and makes excuses by saying that he is just an ordinary person.
They try to find a reason why they had to commit robbery and shoot and justify it.
---「007.
“There are very few people who truly admit their mistakes.”
Andrew Carnegie gave Schwab a million dollar salary.
As of this writing, only two people in history have earned a million-dollar annual salary: Charles Michael Schwab and Walter Percy Chrysler.
Why did they pay such a large sum of money? Was it because Schwab was a genius? Was it because he had an incredible knowledge of steelmaking? No.
Schwab said the reason he gets paid so much is because of his people skills.
The secret is this:
“The best ability I have is the ability to inspire enthusiasm in my subordinates.
It is recognition and encouragement.
I don't criticize anyone.
It just gives me motivation to work.
“I praise you sincerely and do not spare my praise.”
---「020.
“The ability to manage people brings the highest salary.”
On the slopes of Longs Peak in Colorado lie the remains of a massive tree that botanists estimate to be approximately 400 years old.
When Columbus first landed, the tree was only about the size of a sapling, and by the time the Pilgrims founded the United States, it was probably about half its current height.
It has been struck by lightning 14 times and has likely withstood countless avalanches and storms over the past 400 years.
It was only a swarm of beetles that attacked and felled this huge tree.
The beetle dug into the bark and continued its fragile but relentless attack.
The giant tree gradually lost its strength and died.
The giant of the forest, who had stood in one place for ages, unmoved by any great natural disaster, was brought down by a small beetle that a human could crush with a fingernail.
Our appearance resembles this 'forest giant'.
When storms and landslides strike in life, we endure them by any means necessary, but we are completely destroyed by something as trivial and small as a beetle called 'worry'.
You have to chase away your worries before they knock you down.
Don't sweat the small stuff.

Publisher's Review
★★★★★★ Why can't we put Dale Carnegie into practice even after reading it?
Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "How to Manage Yourself" are considered the world's best self-help books.
This book is dedicated to readers who want to read these books but cannot readily pick up thick translated volumes; to readers who were deeply moved by Dale Carnegie but were unable to incorporate his teachings into their own lives; and to readers who, looking back on their past lives filled with regret and self-reproach, now wish to lead their lives courageously and peacefully.
I felt the need for a desk book, considering Dale Carnegie's insistence on reading every day, frequently, and by searching for necessary parts when writing this book.
I am confident that if you read one page a day for a year, and continue to read and reread throughout your life, you will be able to create a peaceful and successful life.
Especially if you give it as a gift to a loved one, such as a family member or friend, it can convey an unforgettable impression that will last a lifetime.
