Into the book
Thor woke up and looked at Sif, who was still sleeping.
He scratched his beard, then lightly patted his wife with his large hand and asked, “What on earth is going on with you?”
When Sheep opened his eyes, his eyes were the color of a summer sky.
“What do you mean?” Ship shook his head, his expression showing that he didn’t understand English.
Then, as the fingers raised towards her head touched her bare pink scalp, she hesitantly stroked her hair.
She looked at Thor with a shocked face.
All that came out of Sheep's mouth was "My hair!"
Thor nodded and said.
“It’s gone.
“He made you bald.”
“Granny, who are you talking about?” asked Sif.
Without answering, Thor put on Megingjord, a belt that doubled his immense strength.
And then he finally opened his mouth.
“I mean, Loki.
“It was Loki who did it.”
“How do you know that?” Sif asked, stroking his bald head with a frantic flick of his hand, as if his hair would grow back if he continued to touch it.
“Because whenever something goes wrong, the first thing we think is that it’s all Loki’s doing.
“That would save a lot of time.” --- pp.45~46
“I took Thor’s hammer,” the ogre confessed.
“And I hid it deep underground where no one could find it.
Even Odin will never find it.
I'm the only one in the world who can bring it back.
“Give me what I want and I’ll give Thor his hammer back.”
“I can pay the price.
I'll give you gold and pumpkin.
“I can bring you so many treasures that you can’t even count them all.”
“There’s no need for that.
I want to marry Freya.
Bring her here in eight days from now.
“I will return the hammer of the gods as a gift to the bride on the first night of my wedding to Freya.”
“Who the hell are you?” asked Loki.
The ogre grinned, revealing his crooked teeth.
“Why are you like this, Loki, son of Laufey?
“I am Srim, the king of the ogres.”
“I will make sure things work out, Great Srim,” said Loki.
He wrapped himself in Freya's feather cloak and flew into the sky with his arms spread wide.
The world beneath Loki seemed very small.
He looked down at the small trees and mountains like children's toys.
The problems the gods were facing also felt very small and trivial.
Thor was waiting for Loki in the palace of the gods.
He grabbed Loki's body in his massive grip before Loki could even land on the ground.
“What happened? You know something, don’t you? It’s written all over your face.
Tell me everything you know, right now.
I don't trust you, Loki.
“I need to know everything I know now before you have a chance to plot and scheme.”
Loki, who plots and schemes as easily as people breathe, smiled at Thor's anger and naivety.
“The one who stole your hammer is Srim, the king of the ogres.
“I tried to persuade him to return the hammer, but he asked for a price.”
“That’s okay.
“What price does he want?”
“I want to hold Freya’s hand at the wedding.”
“You want Freya’s hand?” Thor asked with a glimmer of hope.
Freya has two hands, so if you can persuade her well, you might be able to get her to give up one of them without much trouble.
Anyway, doesn't Tirdo only have one hand?
--- pp.110~112
Freya clenched her hands tightly.
The Blessings necklace hanging around her neck fell to the floor, but she didn't even notice it.
She glared at Thor and Loki as if she were looking at the most vile and unpleasant vermin in the world.
Her gaze was so fierce that Thor felt relieved when Freya began to speak.
“What on earth do you think I am?” she continued in a very soft tone.
"Do I look like such a fool? Like someone you can manipulate? Like someone who would marry an ogre just to get you out of trouble?"
If you two think I'm going to the land of giants, wearing a bridal crown and veil... ... and giving myself over to the touch and lust of that ogre... ... and marrying him... ... .”
Freya stopped talking.
The walls shook again, and Thor feared the whole building would collapse on them.
“Get out!” shouted Freya.
“What kind of woman do you think I am!”
“But, my hammer…” Thor clung.
“Shut up, Thor,” said Loki.
Thor kept his mouth shut.
The two left the place.
“You look really pretty when you’re angry.
“I understand why that ogre wants to marry her.”
"Shut up, Thor." --- pp.113~114
As she moved her fingers, the saliva began to slowly change and take shape, and soon it took the form of a human, standing naked before them.
“Your name is Kvasir,” said Odin.
“Do you know who I am?”
“It is Odin, the Most High,” Kvasir answered.
“You are also Grimnir and the third in command.
Besides these, there are too many names to mention here, but I know them all.
And I know the poems, songs, and slogans that go with it.”
Kvasir, created from the union of the Aesir and Vanir gods, was the wisest of the gods.
He was a being with head and heart combined into one.
The gods would argue over who would be the first to ask him questions, and Kvasir always gave wise answers to such questions.
He observed his surroundings keenly and interpreted what he saw accurately.
Kvasir looked back at the gods and said:
“I will start my journey now.
I plan to visit all nine worlds and also go to Midgard.
“There are questions that need to be answered that haven’t been asked to me yet.”
“But will you come back to us?” the gods asked.
“I will be back.
“After all, there is a web of mystery that must be unraveled someday.”
“What is that?” Thor asked, but Kvasir just smiled and left the gods to ponder his words.
And he put on his traveling cloak and left Asgard and crossed the rainbow bridge.
He scratched his beard, then lightly patted his wife with his large hand and asked, “What on earth is going on with you?”
