I Will Read It Every Day (Essay Edition)
Description
Book Introduction
“The book, your every day,
“May it take you where you want to go.”
"I Will Read Every Day," a collection of 53 essays that will help you get closer to books.
We honestly don't know what's good about reading books.
Will books really be a shortcut to social success? Will books really save me from the swamp I'm in today?
Yet, there are people who read books every day, and there are those who want to read more.
Author Hwang Bo-reum, who wrote "I Will Read Every Day," is one of those people who wake up in the morning, think about books, read books until they fall asleep, and write about books.
In this book, author Hwang Bo-reum gradually asks and answers questions.
To those who ask, “What book should I read?” I would first recommend relying on the tastes of the majority (「1.
Reading Bestsellers"), "2.
Moving on to “getting off the bestseller list”.
Stories of finding time to read books are spread out everywhere (「3.
Reading on the subway", "7.
Carrying a book in a bag"), looking at various aspects of the book (「4.
Reading Thin Books", "5.
(Reading a thick book) follows.
Introducing various ways to immerse yourself in a book (「9.
"Timer App Usage Guide", "27.
"At the local bookstore", "44.
"Immerse yourself in the characters"), and broadly examine the usefulness of the book ("29.
Reading Between Joy and Anxiety”, “35.
Reading books that transcend success and failure)
These are essays written with sincerity by a bibliophile who loves books so much that he cannot live a single day without them.
I sincerely hope that those who read this book will become closer to the book.

Into the book
When we get on the subway, we are faced with two main choices.
Read the book, or don't read it.
The simple act of taking out a book and opening it on the subway, what is this? From today on, our lives are slowly moving away from the 'road we don't have to walk'.
--- 「3.
From "Reading on the Subway"
No matter how much I want to read a book, I can't read it without a pencil because I have to underline.
--- 「6.
From “Reading with Underlining”
When a person who has been following only one way of life opens his or her eyes to the diverse world, life changes.
The moment we realize that the life we were avoiding might be the life someone else is passionately pursuing, our eyes and ears change.
--- 「11.
From “Reading Novels”
The book I've read and put down the most is Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose.
Every time I opened the book to read, I was always overwhelmed by the first page, where the footnotes were longer than the main text.
However, when I tried to focus on the text, the names of the books the speaker mentioned, such as 『Notes of Adson from the Abbey of Melk, translated from the edition of the monk Mabillon』, 『The Office of the Benedictine Monastery』, and the division of monastic worship times into ‘Mornings, Prelude, Vespers, and Closing’, all combined with unfamiliar words that were difficult to understand, I lost all strength.
Every time that happened, my sister who recommended this book to me would say this.
“Just endure for 100 pages. After that, you won’t be able to help but read.”
--- 「17.
From "If you don't want to read, stop reading"
As I grew older, the book that brought a ray of light to my life, which had become more and more wandering rather than stable, was 『Faust』.
“Because as long as humans try, they tend to wander.”
