Into the book
I'm one of those people who buys a lot of books, but I'm also one of those people who fails a lot when it comes to books.
Because I bought so many, there were also many cases of failure.
I bought books because I thought they would be interesting, but in reality, they often weren't.
I've sold books I no longer have a reason to keep to used bookstores, donated them to libraries, and given them to other people.
I don't think those trials and errors were in vain.
Although it took time and money, I think I learned how to choose books and read books through that process.
---From "The Failed Reader"

I think that now is a time when even vanity is necessary.
Knowing the depth and volume of your own mind and striving to fill it.
So, whether it's movies, music, or books, I actively try to fill in the gaps in my life by enjoying them.
That would be intellectual vanity.
---From "But why do you read books?"

If someone asks me again, “Mr. Lee Dong-jin, why do you read books?”, I will answer like this.
“Because it’s fun.” Actually, that’s the most important reason to me.
---From "The Funniest Thing in the World"

Ultimately, you don't have to take full responsibility for the book.
There's no need for that.
There is nothing to be sorry about or ashamed of.
There's no harm in leaving a book you haven't finished reading on the bookshelf.
You can throw it away, sell it to a used bookstore, or give it as a gift to someone you think would like it.
If you just can't read it, if you're not interested, just give up on the book.
You don't necessarily have to read it all.
---From "Do I have to read it all?"

The best thing to do is to take the book out of your bag and carry it in your hand.
Then it even seems to exist.
If you have it in your hand, you can open a book and read it even during those brief moments of waiting for the elevator.
---From "What is the book closest to you right now?"

After reading a book, try to write down your feelings in 140 characters or just two or three lines.
If you have time, you can write a long review on your blog, social media, or online bookstore.
As you write, you will discover for yourself how to speak differently, how to write differently, and how to understand differently.
---From "Reading, Writing, and Speaking"

You can even tear up books.
A few years ago, while reading Jeon Kyeong-rin's "A Special Day That Will Only Happen in My Life," I was struck by a passage that really resonated with me.
But I couldn't find a way to write it down, so I tore out the page and carried it around with me.
---From "Don't Worship Books"

Publisher's Review
A person who loves every moment spent with a book
Film critic Lee Dong-jin discusses how he reads and loves books.

The revised and expanded edition of the book, "Lee Dong-jin's Reading Method: Just Read What You're Drawn To, Just Have Fun," which contains the reading methods of Lee Dong-jin, a bibliophile who owns over 23,000 books and preaches that reading is the most fun thing in the world, has been published by Wisdom House.
This revised and expanded edition includes a list of recommended books, carefully selected by author Lee Dong-jin based on his own selection criteria, adding 300 more books, bringing the total list of recommended books to 800.

In 'Part 1 Thoughts_ Nevertheless, Books', author Lee Dong-jin talks about how to read books and how to love books.
In particular, for readers who were curious about 'How does Lee Dong-jin usually read books?', he provides useful and interesting secrets, such as how to choose books, his favorite reading place, and how to read multiple books at once.
Also, for those who think they should read a book but have been putting it off for various reasons, it provides practical and somehow reassuring 'tips' such as 'don't read the whole book', 'read interesting books first', and 'treat books with care'.
The author's words that reading begins with simply opening an interesting book nearby and enjoying it will sound like encouragement to readers who have been hesitant to read.

'Part 2 Conversation_ I read, I read, I will read' contains a conversation with reporter Da-hye Lee of Cine21, who worked with me on 'Lee Dong-jin's Red Bookstore'.
As we have been talking about books together for a long time, we candidly share stories about author Lee Dong-jin's childhood reading experiences and the story of organizing a book club during his school days that we had not heard before.
Additionally, we can glimpse the author's deep reflections on his powerful influence as a reader, such as his views on the pre-existence of works and his criteria for selecting books introduced in "Lee Dong-jin's Red Bookstore."

'Part 3 List_ 800 Books Recommended by Lee Dong-jin' is a list of 800 books that the author has selected from among the books he has read throughout his life.
This list, which focuses on books that anyone can read for entertainment, education, and reflection without much difficulty, will be a truly meaningful gift to readers.
Of course, the author did not forget to include the advice that it is not a 'must-read' book, so please enjoy it as you are led.

“So, the book likes Lee Dong-jin.”

A person who owns over 23,000 books but has never once felt tired of reading.
A person who loves every moment related to books, from reading and talking about them to choosing books, buying them at a bookstore, and putting them on the bookshelf.
A person who has a strong influence as a reader, but reads all books because they are truly interesting, and chooses books only because they are interesting.
A person who seriously claims that reading books is the most fun and happy thing in the world.
Although he has various jobs such as film critic, writer, and broadcaster, he is especially happy when introduced as a book lover.
So, the book, the person you like.

This book, "The Reading Method of Lee Dong-jin: Just Do What You Can, Just Do What You Can, and Have Fun," is a story about reading that only author Lee Dong-jin, who loves books so much and spends every moment with them, can tell.
As we embark on a journey that begins with the question, "How should I read a book?" and reaches the answer, "How can I love a book?", you'll find yourself wanting to find the happiest and most comfortable place, holding the book closest to you right now.
