Man in Hanbok
Description
Book Introduction
The original novel of the musical 'The Man in Hanbok'!
The truth of that day that shook the genius's fate.
A historical mystery that transcends 600 years of time and space.
The author constantly asks questions that readers cannot help but wonder about as the story unfolds.
Why are Joseon's Bicha and Da Vinci's aircraft designs so similar? Where did Elena Corea disappear to? Whose secret diary did she reveal to Jin Seok? Why did Jang Yeong-sil suddenly vanish from historical records? Where did Jeong-hwa, who never returned from her final voyage, go? Did Jang Yeong-sil ever meet Da Vinci?
Mysterious incidents abound throughout the work, yet they are all intertwined through the author's elaborate puzzle-solving.
I am fortunate that in this age when the novel form is being tested, there is a writer who can weave such a broad and grand story.

The secrets of history performed by top musical actors!
In publishing a revised edition
It seems like only yesterday that a book was published after 10 years of preparation, uncovering the mystery of Jang Yeong-sil's disappearance from our history, but 23 years have already passed since we first planned and worked together on "The Man in Hanbok."
This year, at the publisher's request for a revised edition, I reread "The Man in Hanbok" after nearly 13 years, and it brought back many new impressions.
As K-culture is taking over the world with 'K-Pop Demon Hunters (Kedeheon),' I believe that it is thanks to our readers that 'The Man in Hanbok' has established itself as a global content targeting the world stage.
Following the film and webtoon, "The Man in Hanbok" has been confirmed to be produced as a global musical by EMK Musical Company, Korea's top musical production company, and will be performed at the Chungmu Art Hall Grand Theater for four months from December 2, 2025 to March 2026.
Watching the best musical actors of the time, including Park Eun-tae, Jeon Dong-seok, Ko Eun-seong, Kai, Shin Sung-rok, and Lee Kyu-hyung, rehearse for this piece, I felt as if they were breathing life back into “The Man in Hanbok.”
As I watched this exercise, new inspiration came to me, and I naturally incorporated that feeling into the revised edition.
The Joseon Renaissance, created by the genius scientist Jang Yeong-sil and King Sejong, is now causing a new revolution in South Korea.
History is not made by chance, but by necessity.
I feel that the small wish to inevitably connect the stories of Jang Yeong-sil and King Sejong to us today is slowly coming to light, and I feel that the 10 years I spent preparing for “The Man in Hanbok” as a historical novelist were not in vain.
