My corner
Description
Book Introduction
What if it's placed in a corner?
As the title suggests, “My Corner” begins in a corner where one side meets another.
This corner space, created by the meeting of white walls and floors, is so bare that it almost feels unfamiliar.
What kind of story will the crow tell in this place where no one seems to go out of their way to find it?
The crow finds the most remote place, crouching and looking, standing still, and repeating this process until it finally begins to fill this space with the objects that accompany its daily life.
A bed, a bookshelf, a light, even a flower pot with a small plant - the bare minimum necessary for a crow's life was prepared in this corner, and now the 'corner' was no longer a space without traces, but a small nest that would take care of the crow's time.
The crow goes about his daily routine of watering the plants in the pot, reading books, sleeping, and eating, and now ponders what more the plants, which have become his companions, might need.
While playing, dancing, and cultivating the traces of time on the pristine white walls, it is now difficult to find the old emptiness in the corners.
It is his space, filled with the time of crows.
This closed space is reborn as a new space by the struggling crow.
The boldly thrust drill created a window that allowed bright light to pass through, providing another passage for plants to bask in the light and for crows to communicate with someone across the wall.
"My Corner" is a picture book that began with the imagination of "what would happen if there was an empty corner?"
Just as the small space formed by the meeting of white walls became someone completely new thanks to the crow that visited this place, this space where we stand has also become a 'special place' where our time has accumulated, and it is a small realization that it will continue to be so in the future.

Publisher's Review
The power to observe and discover 'my corner'
“My Corner” is a picture book that tells a story with light and images.
As the crow appears in the corner, you begin to look closely at the objects it brings and observe its actions there in detail.
When I read a book, the light turns on brightly, and when I fall asleep, the light goes out.
The plants, which were smaller than the palm of my hand when I first brought them in, have grown little by little over time, and the crows' meticulousness in covering the bed and bookshelf with plastic while doing construction work with a drill brings a smile to my face.
The light coming through the window is incomparably brighter than the light from the streetlights.
The position of objects, their state, the movement of light, the behavior of crows, their expressions, etc. fill the corners of the void with cute stories.
This is why I cannot just quickly flip through each and every page of “My Corner.”
A world of intricate stories told by a quiet crow
Author Jo Oh is an author who received attention in 2017 when his first picture book, “Hello, Ollie,” published independently, was selected for the “3rd Imagination Book Illustration Exhibition Collaboration” hosted by the Seoul Wow Book Festival and Grafolio.
Having consistently published independent publications such as “Hello, Ollie” and “Black Star Communication,” he presented the picture book “My Corner” at the 2019 Hills Creative Picture Book Exhibition as a response to the theme of “Exploring the World and the Inner Self.”
All three picture books feature a common feature: crows.
This character, with the concept of a 'cowardly crow', was inspired by the author's nickname during his school days, which was crow.
Through 『Black Star Communication』, the author reflected on the difficulties of relationships by drawing the story of two friends, and through 『Hello, Ollie』, a work filled with the emotion of longing, he deeply sympathized with the pain of loss. Then, with 『My Corner』, the author finally brought the crow from an isolated space to a space of communication and hope.
“I thought it was fortunate that there were pictures and stories in the world.
“I hope that the picture books I write will bring happiness to someone.”
- From the author's introduction
Author's Note
They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their space.
Even in the same space, different traces are left behind depending on who stays there.
I like the corners the most in all spaces.
It's very reassuring and comfortable to sit leaning against the corner.
So what happens if I have an empty corner?
I thought about it and gave the crow a small corner of space.
Then, the corner that was nothing but the crow's time
It has become a ‘special corner’ that has been built up little by little.
As it became a special corner, unexpected things happened.
It's a wonderful thing, just like the way you opened this book.
