I would like to call Saihate Tahi that.
The distant shining star says, “I am here speaking to you in this sparkling language, with sparkling eyes.
It seems to be saying, “Can you see it? Can you hear it?”
Saihate Tahi says that he wrote poetry since middle school to soothe his lonely school life.
How brightly must those words have shone, bringing out into the world the feelings that had been searching for me when I was with others rather than when I was alone.
“What is beauty?” This picture book is Tahira’s answer to that question.
Ryoji Arai, a painter who paints pictures resembling his childhood dreams, saw a black cat's long tail in the running night.
When two artists with similar interests collide, such beautiful shooting stars can fall.
What do you see in the long tail of night rushing overhead? Rising black smoke, a friend's long hair, water spilled on the floor, graffiti painted with a brush dipped in dark paint, wet tear stains on a pillow… .
As we wait for night to fall, let's imagine what each of our nights will look like. As we gaze at the twinkling stars in the now pitch-black night sky, let's ponder what they resemble.
In this vast universe, we color our stars, our meanings, one by one.

Tahi Saihate, the author of this picture book, is one of Japan's most notable poets today, known for his sharp sensibility and boundary-breaking language.
The poet wanted to capture in words the thoughts of 'beauty' that came to him uncontrollably after seeing Arai Ryoji's fantastic paintings.
The writing and drawings of the two authors, who were fans of each other, create a musical flow, sometimes rushing, sometimes waiting.
The letters, placed one by one, stop and take a deep breath, and flow along the waves of the night, facing an infinite silence.
Pouring light and sound.
This picture book is an invitation to the deep night, taking the reader's senses endlessly far away and then bringing them back again.
One question that comes to mind when you open your heart to the world before you
“What is beauty?”
The large window where the child stands opens directly to the outside scenery.
The boundary between inside and outside seems to disappear at any moment.
A child, gazing at the scenery reflected in his transparent eyes, absorbs the world with his whole body and walks through the infinite universe.
Jeong Su-yoon, who translated Tahi's trilogy of poetry, including "The Night Sky is Always the Deepest Blue," into Korean, took charge.
These are sentences written in everyday language that are not at all difficult or ambiguous, but thanks to the meticulous touch of translator Jeong Su-yoon, you can encounter the sight of the words shining strangely with their original meaning, as if washed in transparent darkness several times.
A letter from the translator, which will serve as a kind guide for appreciating the picture book, is included in the book in the form of a postcard.
When night finally arrives, the child falls into a dream, surrounded by beautiful things that quietly comfort me.
