Santa Claus's Winter Vacation
Description
Book Introduction
The second story in the "Santa Claus" series from Santa's hometown, Finland, has been released! - What does Santa Claus do during his winter vacation? The sequel to "A Year in Santa Claus's Village," which was first published in Finland in 1981 and won the Elba Award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair the following year in 1982, "Santa Claus's Winter Vacation" was published in Finland in 2020, almost 40 years later, and the Korean edition was finally published in 2024! After traveling the world delivering presents to children, Santa Claus and his elves returned to a secret village in the mountains called Korvatunturi. With the most important day of the year over, Santa's Village enters its 13-day winter vacation, from Christmas Day on December 25th to January 6th. On Christmas morning, we wake up leisurely, gather together, eat the delicious food that has been laid out on the table, and spend time doing things we haven't been able to do because we were too busy. After you've had enough rest, the real vacation begins. When we think of the words Santa Claus and Christmas, images of him busily working to give presents to children naturally come to mind. But in this picture book, you can see the scenery of Santa's village where he enjoys a leisurely vacation after work. As you turn each page, exciting days unfold, including sledding day, theater day, frolicking day, sports day, and snow play day. Don't you feel like spending a vacation in Santa's village with Santa Claus and his elves having fun? Finding the elves hidden throughout the picture book is another fun part of the experience. Into the book
Christmas in Santa's Village on December 25th
On Christmas morning, Santa Claus woke up to the sound of familiar music coming from a record.
“This is the most relaxing morning of the year.” Santa Claus yawned and crawled out of his warm bed.
The fairies also all gathered in the banquet hall, trimming their beards and putting on their fine clothes.
First, Santa Claus says Christmas greetings.
And read some of the letters I received from children.
“Merry Christmas! Santa Claus and the Korvatunturi elves.
Thank you for the wonderful crayons you gave me last Christmas.
“I used it to draw pictures of Santa Claus and his wife.”
Meanwhile, loud laughter echoed throughout the banquet hall.
The fairies began to tell stories about the children they had met and given gifts to.
Today, fairies also exchange gifts with each other.

December 28th, Prank Day
Today is the day when the children of Santa Village play.
Fairy children love this day because they can play pranks no matter how bad they are without getting in trouble.
One morning, when Santa Claus was trying to put on his stocking, he found some dried fruit inside.
Mrs. Santa is about to sit down on the chair when, oh my, there's a fart cushion there.
Poof!
Mirya's sugar bucket was full of salt.
“The coffee this morning was awfully good.” Miryamy also accepted the children’s prank.

New Year's Eve, December 31st
My heart races on New Year's Eve.
Because this year is ending and a new year is beginning.
What will next year be like?
In Santa Village, have your fortune told on the last day of the year.
A fortune teller using Christmas cards from all over the world.
An elf picks up a card from a pile of Christmas cards with her toe.
This year's card said, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"
“So to speak, I wish you a happy new year.
And at the end of the year, there will be another merry Christmas.
“This year will be a good year too,” said Mrs. Santa with a smile.

January 4th is ski day
Let's go skiing far today.
The person in front is Mrs. Santa, who is very good at skiing.
Just bring your lunch box and put on your gloves and you're ready to go.
Okay, let's go!
Santa Claus got blisters on his heels because he was wearing new shoes he bought in town.
Before long, Santa Claus had to sit in his sleigh.
I barely made it to the cabin in the forest.
Everyone gathered around the campfire and dried their sweaty clothes.
Arutu, who only knows work, was excited about splitting firewood.
I grilled sausages over a wood fire.
A meal after skiing is really delicious.
Then everyone sang Christmas songs to Oscar's harmonica playing.

January 6th, the last day of winter vacation
The enjoyable winter vacation is slowly coming to an end.
I ate all the homemade Christmas cookies.
Today, we made a huge king's cake as the last supper of Christmas.
Then, play the king and have fun.
Put one black bean in the cake.
The fairy who found the bean becomes king today.
“Oh, the cake fell.” Then, the puppy Leku quickly ran over and ate it in one bite.
The fact that there were no beans in the fairy cake…
That means today's king is Leku.
All the other fairies took off their hats and greeted Leku politely.
