Into the book
East Sea, where you can go from the sea to the mountains, or from the market to the movie theater or bookstore in just 10 minutes.
Here, the warmth of an oil market coexists with the convenience of a large supermarket, and sophistication and simplicity are balanced.
Above all, the East Sea is warm like the spring sunshine.
The warm heart that welcomes and supports travelers and the love for one's hometown are evident everywhere.

The scenery you see changes every hour.
The blue sea at midday is dazzling like memories of youth, and the lights of the fishermen at dawn are hazy like quiet memories.
As the sun slowly sets behind the green peak, an unforgettable moment begins.
The sky and the sea burn like red flames, and when darkness falls, the small lights of the mountain village twinkle like another constellation.
The lights speak whisperingly.
Each of our lives shines in its own way.

When asked, “What is the charm of the East Sea?” he answered by showing a photo of the sunrise he took at dawn.

“I receive a gift of inspiration every morning.
It feels like being reborn.
That's the biggest charm."

While preparing the bookstore, I thought it would be nice if it could be a bookstore that 'shows the East Sea to travelers and the world to the locals.'
I wanted to be a bridge that tells travelers the hidden stories of the East Sea and introduces locals to a wider world.

The sea, the wind, the book, and the combination of all of these seemed to touch something deep inside my heart.
We listened to each other's stories.
When someone confessed their hurt, someone else nodded silently.
My hardened heart melted away softly.
So we carefully placed small bandages on each other's wounds.
A time filled with books, nature, and honesty.
That day, everything was there in Adal Port.

What's the travel mecca for people in their 20s these days? Mukho, where you can take the train to see the ocean and have fun, is a must. Mukho is a great place for walking tours.
There are many places to visit on foot around the station.
Best of all, you can walk to the sea.
Although there is no station on the beach like in Jeongdongjin, you can reach the beach in 5 minutes on foot.
And it's quiet.
As Bruce said, it changes slowly.
No matter where you go, it's not crowded, so it's good for finding some space in your mind and immersing yourself in thought.

If time permits, let's also take a walk along Nongoldamgil.
The lives of the people who lived here will silently speak to you through the murals.
The silence is slowly changing.
But in that slowness, the warmth that captures the traveler's heart deepens.

Walking along the Haeparang Trail may not be a simple journey.
Listening to the sound of waves by the sea, I feel time seeping into every place I step into.
Then, suddenly, you realize that the moment you are walking right now is the most shining moment.

For those who appreciate the fun of travel, Bukpyeong Folk Market is a must-visit.
This is because it is the largest oil market in Gangwon-do that has maintained its vitality for 200 years.
As soon as I enter the market, a smile comes to my face.
Squids shooting water guns, octopuses with permed hair, and crabs constantly trying to escape will make your eyes widen, and a hearty and delicious bowl of beef bone soup will fill your stomach.
A grandmother selling vegetables that she had grown with great care in her garden and a man handing out peanuts without thinking and saying, “Try some first,” stop you in your tracks.
You can't help but fall in love with her simple and affectionate appearance.

Even familiar roads appear different each time depending on the season and weather.
Exploring the neighborhood without getting bored even if you walk every day.
He is a great contributor to making time in the East Sea more enjoyable.
As fast as our steps, as far as we have walked and as far as we will walk, we will slowly but fully immerse ourselves in Mukho and the East Sea every day.

Publisher's Review
A seaside village you'll reach by train between Gangneung and Samcheok
Head to Donghae, a quiet and friendly city that attracts travelers tired from busy travel!

Mukho, Eodal, Bukpyeong… Just hearing the names brings a sense of peace.
The East Sea, a travel destination where you'll fall in love the moment you see it

2 hours and a half from Seoul Station by KTX.
After the Haeparang-gil Road, the East Sea, where the sunrise is particularly splendid, is not as crowded as other tourist destinations, but thanks to its quiet atmosphere, it has recently emerged as a sentimental local travel destination where travelers in their 20s and 30s can experience the 'real Gangwon-do'.
In the morning, you can look out at the sea, during the day, people gather at the bookstore, and in the evening, you can take a walk along the Nongoldamgil.
The East Sea, which is the center of the Sea Train tourist route along the East Sea Line and includes Haeparang-gil Courses 33 and 34, is also attractive to day-trippers, as all beaches and tourist attractions located throughout the city are within a 15-minute drive.
The author, a first-generation travel writer, began living in the East Sea for a month, settled in Mukho, and opened the travel bookstore 'Janjanhage'.
And she begins her journey across the East Sea for those who love travel and books.

It's the little things in life that hold you together.
And life in the East Sea comes as a gift every moment.

Life in the East Sea flows like a journey.
The sunrise at Mukho Port, the winding roads of Nongoldamgil, the scenery of the old market and the newly opened neighborhood bookstore, and even the connections with neighbors.
"East Sea Anytime" warmly depicts life in the East Sea and the moments of life in a bookstore, centered around the bookstore "Janjanhage," as well as the rhythm of daily life that changes with the seasons.
Above all, the author's unique and delicate perspective conveys the life and travel of the East Sea with affectionate detail, focusing on the local scenery and sentiments of everyday life rather than flashy tourist spots.
We will experience a 'travel we want to live' by following all the spaces that are newly attracting attention among young travelers, such as the sea and mountains, oil fields and local bookstores, and Mukho Port with over 100 years of history, as well as Nongoldamgil, Haeparanggil Courses 33 and 34, and Eodal Beach Book Clinic.
This book will be a record of life spent talking with strangers in an alleyway bookstore, and a new emotional roadmap for the East Sea for a 'long-lasting journey.'

Joy and happiness blooming in the sparkling East Sea

For those who want to walk along the beach at their own pace
Donghae, a city where you always want to live like you're on vacation

Part 1, 'Living in the East Sea for a Month', introduces places that capture the essence of life, the sea, and alleys of the East Sea, such as Mukho Port, Balhan Intersection, and Windy Hill.
You can experience the charm of a 'living journey', such as the happiness of being able to eat raw fish every day, the two worlds of kalguksu, and the uphill road that embraces the mountains and the sea.

Part 2, "Shall we try a quiet travel bookstore?", contains a story that unfolds around the small bookstore the author opened after settling down in Mukho.
It warmly depicts the small changes that began in a space that connects books and people in the city of Donghae, and the sincerity of local life that connects with the region.

Part 3, "The Joy of Living in the East Sea," presents the East Sea's natural connection between travel and life, from the changing scenery of the seasons, to people gathering around bookstores, to leisurely routines like Saturday book clubs and beach yoga.

Lastly, in Part 4, '10 Ways to Travel the East Sea', local attractions in the East Sea, such as Mukho, Eodal, and Mangsang, are organized from a traveler's perspective.
Trekking along the Haeparang Trail, strolling along the Nongoldam Trail, Bukpyeong Folk Market, bookstores in the East Sea, and even extending to the nearby cities of Gangneung and Samcheok.
We introduce a real East Sea travel course suggested by someone who has lived there.

“A city that will come to us like gentle waves
“I live in the East Sea today, like a trip.”

"East Sea Anytime" is a record of a "living journey" that breaks down the barriers between travel and daily life, and makes us walk again with a love for the city.
A scene from the East Sea life, filled with a deeper emotion than travel, in the midst of daily life.
And for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the real East Sea is naturally led to a bookstore by the sea, an alley market, and the East Sea beach, guided by someone who has lived there.
We will become new travelers in the city of Donghae, where we wake up to the sound of waves, follow the smell of food in the alleys, and meet new people in bookstores.
