Description
Book Introduction
The theme of 『Bear』 No. 14 is 'PICTURE BOOK'.
In this issue of 『Bear』, we introduce domestic authors with a deep love and philosophy for picture books.
We met with picture book illustrators and took the time to look into how the inner self of the author is captured in the book, and we also got a glimpse into the struggles of authors who are researching ways to communicate with readers through their books.
It also includes a conversation with the CEO of an independent publishing company that publishes picture books and an artist who creates mobiles that sparkle like stars in fairy tales.
A design studio space for exploring objects, you can also experience the spirit of a Japanese picture book author from across the ocean through "Bear."
We convey the perspectives and affection of various people towards picture books.
I hope that readers of 『Bear』 will also feel the same excitement as when turning each page of a picture book.

Into the book
When things that cannot be expressed in words become pictures, you can feel things you never thought of.
There are stories and feelings that can only be told in picture books.
I hope that such joy will remain in the hearts of readers for a long time.
- p.35 Seohyun

To me, a happy ending is one where you can move on without ending happily.
I think the opposite of failure is 'next'.
So it ends with the possibility of doing something else.
I think happiness is something like this:
-p.47 Kim Seung-yeon

Picture books that we read as children are fun and enjoyable.
But when you read it as an adult, you can better understand the deep story the author has put into it.
Books that are densely packed with words take a long time to enter the world created by the author, but with picture books, 10 minutes is enough.
- p.69 Hello Moon

For those of you in publishing, we're not going to make a lot of money.
Then it should be fun at least.
If it's not fun, there's nothing left.
Make your work as fun as possible.
- p.114 Edition Jang Moulin

What my nephew likes is that the turtle is faster.
They say that as you get older, you like faster turtles.
On the other hand, adults are more supportive of those who are tired and return to their seats.
I think it's better if it's read with different perspectives.
