Into the book
By applying the magical methods presented in this book, you can eliminate 90% of your worries.
Of course, this may be a story you have heard somewhere before.
But what really matters is not how much you know, but how much you put into practice.
The purpose of this book is not to impart new knowledge to you, but to enable you to practice and act on what you already know.

--- p.16

When you worry, your mind wanders and you lose your ability to make decisions.
But if you force yourself to face the worst-case scenario and begin to accept it, the vagueness will disappear and you will have a foundation to focus on the problem.
I still use this method because it works so well for me.
Now you have nothing to worry about anymore.

--- p.38

We asked prominent Oklahoma oil magnate Waite Phillips how he executes his decisions.
Then he answered like this.
“If you keep thinking about a problem more than necessary, you will end up confused and worried.
Any further investigation or thinking can be harmful.
“At times like these, you must decide, act, and never look back.”
--- p.62

British writer George Bernard Shaw also said this:
"The secret to our misery is to allow ourselves the luxury of wondering whether we're happy or not." Is it really necessary to worry about such things? Roll up your sleeves and get moving.
Then your blood will start to flow and your mind will clear.
Soon, positive energy will surge through your body and drive away your worries.
Keep busy and working.
Because that would be the cheapest and most effective medicine.

--- p.77

Of course, you might have these worries as a child, but as a teenager or even as an adult, you'll have a lot of unreasonable worries.
Stop worrying and apply the 'law of averages'.
If you and I could justify our worries by examining whether they're justified, we could reduce 90% of our worries.

--- p.88

I found this time much more valuable than memorizing English words and solving math problems.
This was the most useful lesson I learned throughout high school.
I learned that if you can avoid it, you shouldn't spill the milk, but if it's already gone down the drain, you should just forget about it.

--- p.109

If we hate our enemies, we are handing them dominion.
My sleep, appetite, blood pressure, health, and happiness are all in the hands of the enemy.
Even if you hate your enemies, you won't be able to harm a single hair on their head.
The hatred we harbor only turns my days and nights into hell.

--- pp.124-125

90% of the things we experience in life are good things and 10% are bad things.
If you want to be happy, focus on the 90% of good things and ignore the 10% of bad things.

--- p.138

Why does doing good deeds every day have such amazing effects? It's because when you're trying to please others, you don't have time to think about yourself.
Thinking about yourself is what causes worry, fear, and depression.

--- p.161

Don't start anything you don't want to do! Of course, you should listen to your parents' advice.
These are people who have lived at least twice as long as you.
Parents have wisdom gained through experience and age.
But the decision is yours.
In the end, it is you who are happy or unhappy while working.

★★★ Korea's first youth-tailored Carnegie self-management theory definitive edition published!
★★★ The best-selling human relations classic of all time, with over 30 million copies sold worldwide!
★★★ Includes "Dale Carnegie's 28-Day Self-Management Challenge"!

Following the publication of the first book in the trilogy of the Dale Carnegie Series for Teens, "How to Win Friends and Influence People," the second book, "How to Manage Yourself with Dale Carnegie," has been published.
Like 『Human Relations』, 『Self-Management』 is also very popular, selling 30 million copies worldwide.
Carnegie observed countless people struggling to survive, caught up in the problems of 'human relationships' as well as 'worry'.
So I wrote this book to help you stop worrying and start living your life to the fullest.

Adolescence is a time in life when everything is uncertain and insecure.
It's easy to get caught up in countless worries and concerns, not just about schoolwork, but also about career paths, jobs, appearance, friends, family, health, money, and more.
But Carnegie advises, “90% of the things you worry about never happen!”
We often miss out on things we could be good at because of unnecessary worries and concerns.
To live a completely happy and successful life, studying at school is important, but studying self-management is also essential.
From adolescence, we must learn to take good care of our physical and mental health so that we do not become consumed by worries and ruin our lives.

This book is written for young readers and contains 28 essential self-management rules that they must know to live their lives.
It is easy to read with a variety of interesting examples and anecdotes rather than difficult theories.
To help you understand the content, supplementary explanations have been provided for key characters and events that appear here and there.
You can also study English naturally by including the original English text for important quotes or key sentences.
At the end of each chapter, we have provided a 'Key Summary' section that summarizes the main messages and a 'Practice' section where you can actually apply the self-management principles.

To survive in this world, relationships with other people are important, but relationships with oneself are also very important.
The worries and concerns that weigh me down are ultimately of my own making.
This book will greatly help teenagers love themselves more, and through this, they can live healthy and happy lives, free from worries and concerns.

Academics, career path, job, appearance, friends, family, health, money…
Adolescence is full of worries

According to the '2023 Youth Statistics' recently conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Youth Policy Institute, the top concern of youth is studying (50.8%), second place is appearance (13.3%), third place is job or career path (7.4%), fourth place is friends or friendship (6.1%), fifth place is health (4.9%), and sixth place is lack of allowance (4.8%).
If you are a teenager, you have probably pondered or worried about one or more of these.
I think that especially since you are a student, you will be most worried about studying.
But do these worries really become a big problem in life?

Dale Carnegie said, “Ninety percent of the things we worry about never happen.”
Studying may seem like the most important thing in the world these days, but when you actually go out into society, that's not necessarily the case.
Adults and seniors say, “Studying isn’t everything in life,” and “You just have to find something you’re good at and enjoy doing.” This is truly true.
Of course, this doesn't mean you don't have to study hard.
It means do your best, but don't risk everything in life.
You can use studying well as a tool to do what you want to do.
Studying is just one weapon to make life happier and more abundant.

Dale Carnegie, the most unhappy young man in New York
How did you overcome your worries and concerns?

Dale Carnegie was also a man of many worries and concerns in his youth.
He even called himself “the unluckiest young man in New York.”
He had no decent job, lived in a cheap, cockroach-infested one-room apartment, and ate at shabby restaurants.
But I didn't continue to live in worry.
He decided to live the 'life full of adventure' he had always wanted.

First of all, I decided to quit doing things I didn't like doing.
And I decided to live a more abundant life.
I graduated from a teacher's college dreaming of becoming a teacher, but I was unable to actually become one and instead taught adults at night school.
The students attending the class were already established adults in society.
They weren't taking classes to get credit or fame.
They just wanted to solve their own problems.

Carnegie originally taught speaking in class, but he realized that people were more preoccupied with problems of 'human relationships' or 'self-concerns' than they thought, and were unable to live their lives to the fullest.
So, to solve these students' problems, I created my own teaching materials, which were published as 『Human Relations Theory』 and 『Self-Management Theory』.
In particular, in order to write 『Self-Management Theory』, I read almost all the books and materials on ‘self-management’.
We explored not only philosophers of the past and present, but also historical figures and interviewed celebrities from all walks of life.
And the students who took Carnegie's classes presented in class how they applied the principles and methods he taught to real life, and their experiences became an important foundation for this book.
