Aunt and Jinjin's cheerful and lively 'Find Your True Dream' project!

"Aunt's Dream House" is a lively and unique work that depicts the process of model student Jinjin finding her true dream after being invited to an unusual camp called "Dream House" instead of a special camp to enter a specialized high school.
It delivers healthy laughter by sharply and humorously depicting the lives of uniformed children who cannot even dream independently.
This fantasy fairy tale, in which all objects, animals, and plants are personified and play together with the characters, presents Jinjin's journey to find her true dream through the 'Dream House' where the everyday and the mysterious intertwine, giving children big dreams.

Living in the 'Dream House', a place full of freedom and vitality, changes the life of Jinjin, who was a bookworm.
Jinjin, who only knew how to study, regains his childishness as he becomes friends with 'Eogi', a goose whose dream is to fly freely in the sky, 'Deungchi', a dog whose dream is to wag his tail in 3/4 time, 'Pong', a bucket that loves to dance more than anything in the world, and talkative books.
This lighthearted story gently yet powerfully conveys the message that children must find their true dreams on their own, and that dreams are not necessarily about achieving them and becoming great people, but rather that every step toward them is meaningful if it is enjoyable.

Publisher's Review
The delightful journey of thirteen-year-old Jinjin, who regains his dreams through books.
The 6th Ma Hae-song Literary Award, established by Munhak-kwa-Jiseongsa in 2004 to commemorate the achievements of Ma Hae-song (1905-1966), who pioneered the path of Korean children's literature, and to support the development of Korean children's literature, has been published.
"Aunt's Dream House" is a light and lovely fantasy about books.
The story depicts the process in which the main character Jinjin, whose goal is to enter a first-class university, is invited to the 'Dream House', a place for communication between books, people, objects, and people, instead of a camp to enter a specialized high school, and realizes what his true dream is.

We help you find your lost dreams!
"Aunt's Dream House" is a lively and unique work that depicts the process of model student Jinjin finding her true dream after being invited to an unusual camp called "Dream House" instead of a special camp to enter a specialized high school.
It delivers healthy laughter by sharply and humorously depicting the lives of oppressed children who cannot even dream independently and must accept their parents' standardized dreams rather than their own.
In addition, it provides children with the mental space to freely pursue their dreams by removing the burden and expectations of adults that have been erased from them.

Jinjin is a good daughter who listens to her mother well and doesn't even look at books that don't help her study, let alone comic books.
So, I firmly believe that my mother's dream of me graduating from a specialized high school and Seoul National University and becoming a doctor or lawyer is my own dream.
On April Fool's Day morning, Jinjin receives an invitation to the 'Dream House' camp from her mother.
At first, Jinjin thought it was an April Fool's joke because of the children's doodle-like invitation, but the moment his mother told him that it was a "very special camp that will help with admission to a specialized high school," Jinjin unconsciously carried his bag and headed to the meeting place.
And then, he ends up following a woman named 'Imo' with a playful face who comes to pick him up on a rickety bicycle and ends up heading to the 'dream house'.
The place we arrived at following my aunt was a charming tile-roofed house with a large camellia tree, a well, and a pond.
Moreover, the room was filled with so many books that it reminded me of a library.
To Jinjin, who is surprised, his aunt introduces him to books as her best friend and even gives him a hint.
"You should only read it when you are serious.
The kids here have high self-esteem, so they won't play with you unless you're sincere.
If you open a book when you're not sincere, no one will come out, right?"
My aunt is so different from other adults.
He says that he is not a teacher and that he hates teaching, and when Jinjin says that his dream is to enter a top university, he bursts into laughter, asking if going to school is all he dreams of.
Jinjin can't shake the feeling that he's come to the wrong place.
I have to study so I don't fall behind my friends.
Who invited Jinjin to the "Dream House," a place where only those with a genuine love for books are invited? What changes will this special week-long camp, filled with bizarre events, bring to Jinjin?

A space for communication between books, people, objects, and people: "Dream House."
What surprised Jinjin the most in 'Dream House' was the objects, animals, and plants that could communicate with people.
The goose 'Augi' whose dream is to fly freely in the sky, the dog 'Deungchi' whose dream is to wag his tail in 3/4 time, the gourd 'Pong' who loves to dance more than anything in the world, and even the talkative books, all characters who play their roles perfectly show off their charms and make the 'Dream House' even more lively.
This materialistic world, which seems to be accessible only to young children, exudes a cute charm and captures the reader's attention.
This fantasy world, where all objects, animals, and plants are personified and engage in lively play with the characters, blends well with the cozy and comfortable countryside setting and the friendly feeling that the aunt gives, naturally drawing readers into the 'dream house'.
The watercolor paintings with their delicate lines and soft colors convey the atmosphere of the 'dream house' where the everyday and the mysterious intersect, and create a lively portrayal of Jinjin's journey in search of her dreams.

I finally found my dream!
Living in the 'Dream House', a place full of freedom and vitality, changes the life of Jinjin, who was a bookworm.
As he becomes friends with Ddungchi, Eogi, and Pong, Jinjin, who only knew how to study, regains his childishness.
To Jinjin, who was only looking for books that would help him study, books that at first only seemed like blank pages, willingly reveal their inner stories when Jinjin opens them with a sincere heart.
On the last day of camp, Jinjin finally encounters his long-forgotten dream, which invites him to his 'dream home'.
What called Jinjin was the picture book 'Pink Snowman' that Jinjin created herself when she was six years old.
A six-year-old child's dream is that one day, when pink snow falls, he will be able to make a pink snowman...
In the 'Dream House' where anything you wish for comes true, Jinjin fulfills his childhood dream by making a pink snowman out of pink cherry blossom petal snow.
I was able to regain my former self, the one who used to enjoy playing with books and dream freely.
Jinjin realizes that no matter how grand and cool things may seem to others, they are meaningless if he is not happy himself.
When you dream and feel happy, only then will you truly shine.
In the process, Jinjin takes a courageous step toward the dream he truly desires, rather than the specialized high school and top university that his mother wants.

Through the character of Imo and the virtual world of "Dream House," the author delivers a sharp criticism to a society that imposes the dreams and goals of adults on children and is obsessed with making them come true.
This lighthearted story gently yet powerfully conveys the message that children must find their true dreams on their own, and that dreams are not necessarily about achieving them and becoming great people, but rather that every step toward a dream is meaningful if it is enjoyable.

In the review
The structure and development of the story that drives the theme of "Aunt's Dream House" are delicate and serious.
The story unfolds in a lively, musical way, with the dream of Ddungchi, who wag his tail in 3/4 time, the dream of Agi, who wants to fly, the dream of Pong, who dreams of a happy dream every day, and the dream of Imo, who dreams of a dream house, and the process of the aunt, who finds the planned dream of the main character Jinjin absurd, planting happy dreams in Jinjin. _Lee Sang-bae

"Aunt's Dream House" was a unique and quirky story.
This materialistic world, which is suitable only for younger children, has a cute charm and attracts people.
Reading this work, which is filled with insightful sentences about dreams, even adults will find themselves briefly dreaming of visiting "Aunt's Dream House."
It was a work that struck a chord with the essence of fairy tales, a work I hadn't seen in a long time. _Choi Yun-jeong

"Aunt's Dream House" is a light and lovely fantasy.
Jinjin, a model student, is unexpectedly invited to a bizarre and eccentric campsite called 'Dream House', where he begins to realize what a true dream is.
By presenting this winning work, which offers a new perspective on books, I hope that this author, and other authors, will create a richer and freer world of books. _Kim Seo-jeong

In his acceptance speech
Thank you for readily accepting my outstretched hand.
Although it is still a work with a raw, fishy smell, I will not forget that it is a warm encouragement to write a work that will not be ashamed of expectations.
"Knowing is not important.
The important thing is to imagine." I believe this is why fairy tales exist.
I want to become a writer who boldly writes about dreams that people cannot even imagine for fear of common sense and authority.
I will write a fairy tale that doesn't try to teach anything, a fairy tale that doesn't insist that only this is right. _Jeong Ok
