The poetry collection 『With the Eyes, with the Heart』 by former professor Eun-nim Noh of the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, known as the ‘poet of painting,’ has been published.
This is a revised and expanded edition of 『The Sound of Water, the Sound of Birds』 published in 2007.
Ten years after the first edition was published, it has been completely republished in response to readers' continued requests.
Not only has the book title changed, but the cover and main text design have also become more elegant and sophisticated.
In addition, 13 new poems were added, and more than half of the illustrations were replaced (84 poems, 93 illustrations).

Invited to the 'Biennale for Peace' in 1985
Establishing his reputation and position as a world-class painter
Born in Jeonju in 1946, the author went to Germany as a nursing assistant in 1970. After attending an exhibition at the Hamburg Municipal Hospital for Surgery, she was discovered by Professor Hans Thiemann, a direct disciple of Klee and Kandinsky at the Bauhaus, and entered the Department of Painting at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 1973.
After graduating in 1979, he worked as a full-time artist and solidified his reputation and position as an artist by winning prestigious artist support awards in succession, including the Hamburg City Art Scholarship and the Bonn Kunstfonds Government Scholarship in 1982, the Wobswede Scholarship and Residency in 1984, the Munich Waldwerta Residency in 1985, and the BDI Art Award.
In 1985, he was invited to the Biennale for Peace along with the greatest contemporary artists of the time, including Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, John Cage, and Sol Lewit.
Annelie Polen, founder of the art association and a leading German art critic, praised her work as “a bridge between Eastern meditation and European expressionism.”
The artist has been active not only in painting but also in other fields such as objects, public installations, and performance art, and has held numerous exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
In 1990, he was appointed as a full professor at his alma mater, the University of Fine Arts Hamburg.
Professor Noh Eun-nim is the first Korean woman to be appointed as a professor at a European national art school.
From then until his retirement in 2010, the author taught students from all over the world, and from 1996 he also served as a scholar at the Hamburg International Summer Academy Pentimant.
He currently works between Hamburg and Michelstadt.
