Description
Book Introduction
Exodus is the second book of the Pentateuch, and like Genesis, its author is Moses.
This is a book that contains the story of the Israelites escaping from Egypt, as the name 'Exodus' suggests.
Seventy descendants of Jacob escape a severe famine and enter the land of Goshen in Egypt, where Joseph is the prime minister.
Despite suffering as slaves in Egypt for 430 years (Exodus 12:41), Israel grew to become a nation.

Praise God who saved me
The most dramatic and salvation-related book in the Old Testament is Exodus.
Exodus chapter 1 depicts the oppressed Israelites, chapters 2-12 depict the Exodus, and chapters 13-18 depict the wilderness journey after crossing the Red Sea.
Chapters 19 through 24 describe God giving Israel the laws they must keep at Mount Sinai.
God established the Passover and taught the Ten Commandments.
Chapters 25-40 tell the story of building the tabernacle.
As you write, I hope you will meditate on how God leads Israel.
God saved us from being slaves to Satan by His sovereignty.
Just as the Israelites learned how to live as God's people in the wilderness after the Exodus, we too must learn how to live as God's people and live in accordance with His will.

Publisher's Review
The Way to Live as God's People
The time that the children of Israel dwelt in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. At the end of the four hundred and thirty years, on that very day, all the armies of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. This night was to be observed to the LORD for bringing them out of the land of Egypt. It was a night to be observed to the LORD throughout all the generations of the children of Israel. (Exodus 12:40-42)
