Description
Book Introduction
“This book is a classic and model of prayer, filled with timeless spiritual treasures!”
_Park Young-don, Hwa Jong-bu, Kim Young-bong, Lee Kyu-hyun, John Piper, Tim Keller, D.

A. Carson Recommendation

“There is no better resource for exploring the deep ‘valley of prayer’ created by Puritan faith and theology than this book.
The joy, praise, and cries of the soul immersed in intimate communion with the Triune God, combined with the sophistication of Puritan theology and the extraordinary fervor of piety, create a sweet melody of prayer.
Their refined language of prayer reveals their profound understanding and conviction of the truth of the Gospel, the longing, pursuit, vision, and thirst that captivated their hearts.
"The Valley of Prayer" compiles the inspired prayers of leading Puritans by topic, providing valuable resources for personal prayer and meditation, as well as public prayer.
When the cries and pleas welling up within us find no suitable words and become frustrated, the prayers contained in this book will become an outlet for them.
“Moreover, when we recite their prayers, as if reading the Psalms, our souls, weary from their spiritual pilgrimage, will find new vitality.”
Park Young-don, Professor of Theology at Korea Theological Seminary

Into the book
Lord, who is high and holy, gentle and humble,
The Lord brought me to this valley of vision.

Although I live here in the low places, I see the Lord on high.

Here I am surrounded by mountains of sin, and I see the glory of the Lord.

For me, the way down is the way up,
A broken heart is a healed heart,
A repentant spirit is a joyful spirit,
A soul that repents is a victorious soul,
To have nothing is to possess everything,
To bear the cross is to wear the crown,
To give is to receive,
The dark valley is a place where revelation shines.
Let us learn the truth.

Lord, in the deep well the stars are visible even during the day.
The deeper the well, the brighter the stars of the Lord shine.
Let me see the light of the Lord in my darkness,
In my death, the Lord's life,
In my sorrow, the Lord's joy,
Lord, in my sins, grace,
In my poverty, the Lord's riches,
Let me discover the glory of the Lord in my valley.

--- From 'The Valley of Fantasy'

Be with me until your great work is completed in me.
I overcome myself in every way,
Overcoming my flesh, its emotions and lusts,
Beat my body and make it obey,
I will keep my humanity and not commit any serious sins.
Control my cunning nature,
Live entirely for the glory of the Lord,
Let us be deaf to the unjust criticism and praise of people.
Nothing can harm my inner self that has been reborn,
This inner man will never perish or die.
Nothing can hinder the dominion of the Holy Spirit of the Lord within me.
It is enough for me to obtain the approval of the Lord and my conscience.
Make me humble and trust in the Lord, and be a person who greatly rejoices in him.
Be still and silent like a baby sucking milk.
May I always be zealous for the Lord.
What I want to be rather than what I do,
More than anything, I want to be like Jesus.
If the Lord makes me right, I will be right.
Lord, I belong to you; make me worthy of you.
