Description
Book Introduction
Gil Seong-un, Kim In-joong, Lee In-ho, Jeong Gap-sin, and Choi Seong-eun are highly recommended.
Learning with Pastor Lee Kyu-hyun of Grace Garden Church
Gospel classes for new believers!
This book is an introductory book to the life of faith written for those who do not know Jesus, those who are interested in the Bible but find it difficult to approach, and those who go to church but do not know what the gospel is.
The content has already been verified through the program 'First Steps to a Life of Faith' on the Christian OTT platform 'Fondant', and five new topics were added to the five contents that were aired and compiled into a book.
It answers questions that we have all pondered at least once in our lives of faith, such as, “What kind of person is God?”, “What is sin?”, and “How can I receive Jesus?”
The reason why the author, who has served as a pastor for many years, has this as his first book's topic is because, as he saw and felt while pioneering and establishing a church through the Big Forest Movement and serving as the chairman of CITY TO CITY KOREA, the current state of the Korean church is one that appears flashy and large on the outside, but in reality, its foundation is not solid, so it is in a precarious state that it would not be surprising if it collapsed at any time.
I wrote this article with the same loving heart as a parent would help a child take his or her first steps, believing that in order to advance toward a community of deep meditation on the Word, a life of intense prayer, and mature service, we must first establish a sound foundation of faith.
It is structured so that you can read one chapter a day for 10 weeks, and 'Questions for Discussion' are organized for each week so that individuals or communities can find answers together.
The Korean church faces new questions never before experienced in this pandemic.
The journey to find that answer may be daunting and frustrating, but I believe that when the foundation is solid, the results will be equally expansive.
I hope that through the ten questions contained in this book, you will find grace to hold on to the foundation and urgency of the gospel.

Epilogue
Into the book
- Faith requires knowing what to believe and having the will to believe.
But at the last moment, it is God who gives faith.
- Our self-esteem is not determined by what we have.
When we truly realize that we are God's magnificent creation, we can live with dignity and self-respect.
- The gods that people of the world believe in are mainly objects of fear.
If you look bad to God, he will bring down a great disaster.
As a result, many people do not serve God because they like or respect Him, but rather because they are afraid that He will harm them.
But God is a father who embraces us and waits for us with the warmest love.
- The teachings of the Bible are very clear.
All humans, without exception, are sinners, and the consequence of sin is death.
- If we seek Jesus because of any difficulty, He is the one who opens His arms and embraces us.
He is the one who wipes away the tears from our eyes and sympathizes with our pain.
He is also the One who holds our hands and walks with us so that we can overcome mountains that we cannot overcome.
- For those who believe in Jesus, the day of His Second Coming is not a day of fear or terror.
Rather, it will be a day when we will rule the world together with the Lord in eternal heaven.
So, the seniors in the faith eagerly awaited the day when Jesus would return.
- Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord implies that your old self dies and you are born again as a new person.
If I had previously lived a life of being the master of my own life, doing whatever I wanted and committing all kinds of sins, now my old self that lived that way has died and I have become a person who lives a completely new life in the Lord.
- We have done nothing to be forgiven of our sins and to pass from death to life.
I haven't done many good deeds or done anything that would impress God.
So if there is one word that can describe this gospel, it is grace.
We did nothing to deserve it, yet God showed us His grace.
- The final step in meditating on the Word is to put into practice what you have realized through meditation.
When God's Word changes our thinking, changes the direction and purpose of our lives, and changes our attitude toward our family and neighbors, we will be able to live the blessed life that the Bible speaks of.
- Jesus promised to come back to us.
This is called the 'Second Coming'.
On the day the Lord returns, the devil will be captured and thrown into eternal judgment.
At that time, the devil will no longer be able to do anything, and the complete kingdom of God, that is, heaven, will come to us.
- Pastors and missionaries are not the only ones who live according to their calling.
Everything we do in this world, if we look closely, is done at the call of God.
Whether we are farmers, office workers, laborers, technicians, salarymen, politicians, artists, or businessmen, we must work with the mindset that God has called us to this position for this work.

Publisher's Review
When we think about God, we ask very serious questions.
The question is whether we can judge and decide with our reason whether there is a God or not, what kind of God that God is, and how we can meet that God.
Ultimately, we are forced to acknowledge the limitations of our reason and experience.
The Christian faith says that God came to such a person.
In fact, if God does not reveal Himself to us, we cannot know God on our own.
The Bible is a book in which God reveals who He is.
Through this Bible, countless people have come to know who God is, who I am, and what happens to me when I die.
And that's how this book became a bestseller.
Many people open their Bibles and think, 'Then I should read the Bible too.'
But just reading the Bible is harder than you think.
When you travel to an unfamiliar place, you see a lot of things, but often you pass them by without knowing what they are.
If you have a guide who can explain the historical significance and background of the place, your trip will be much more enriching.
The same is true when reading the Bible.
It would be much easier to approach the Bible if someone explained the overall flow.
That is precisely the purpose of writing this book.
I wrote this book for people who are seeking God, who are concerned about the essence of life, who want to read the Bible but are vague about it, and who go to church but are unsure of what they believe.
