There is a time for everything
Description
Book Introduction
An invitation to a life completely different from before,
16 Moments of Life from a World-Class Spiritualist
We go through many things: family relationships, romantic relationships, business problems, job problems, etc.
Sometimes, things don't go well.
At times like these, many people blame themselves for the wrong choices they made and say things like:
'Oh, what if I hadn't done that back then?'
And when it gets bad, you may even want to cut that time out of your life.
On the other hand, there are times when I suddenly wonder, 'Am I living well now?'
It is clear that we are living hard, but this is a question that cannot be answered simply by saying that we are living hard.
So, I console myself by saying, 'I guess I would have lived a good life anyway,' and erase that question from my mind.
It is clearly an important question that gives new possibilities to my life.
The book that can give us valuable insight at such times is 『There is a time for everything』 published by Catholic Publishing House.
"There's a Time for Everything" is a bestseller that was published in 2017 and is still loved by many people today.
This book has been re-edited into a luxurious hardcover edition, with a completely revised design.

Into the book
Many people often look for something else rather than being faithful to the present.
They live in the present, looking at the clock and thinking about the future.
But when they look back later, they realize that they didn't enjoy it anywhere.
They always live with one foot in the future.
We plan and prepare for tomorrow, but then we fear tomorrow.
So, I avoid my fear and divert my attention for a while while waiting for tomorrow.
Because there is no such thing as 'enough'.
---From "Times of Life"
Before we can try to change the world around us, we must first face ourselves.
And before we are born into this world and can do anything for others, good character must first be born within us.
---From "At Birth"
The Samaritan found new meaning in his life by reaching out and comforting the suffering of others.
Those who have been hurt do not waste their lives, but break free from the path of pain and find a new path.
A better life awaits those who are determined to live, no matter what trap they fall into or what robbers they encounter.
British essayist Charles Lamb said, “Pain is life.
“The more intense the pain, the more certain the proof that it is life,” he said.
The pain we learn as we live is an invitation to a new life, to a deeper life.
---From "When Healed"
Qoheleth says there is a time to die.
The true death that Qoheleth spoke of is prepared by small deaths.
In fact, we cannot come back to life until we are prepared to die a little death.
Although we are alive, we cannot be fully human until we face the inhuman within ourselves.
We cannot gain new life until we acknowledge that we are part of the death that surrounds us.
You cannot live a new life until you strip away and burn the mask of old thoughts and withered purposes.
Little deaths are very important in life.
---From "When I Die"
Growing something brings honest results.
It's just about consistently doing what you feel is necessary, whether or not there's a tangible benefit to it.
In the end, I complete my life by living my true self little by little each day.
Success in life depends on being true to yourself, no matter what the cost.
---From "Harvest Time"
We cannot cage life, freeze the present happy day, or stuff it like a butterfly in a frame.
Life goes on indifferently, whether we accompany these present moments or not.
It goes on even when it shakes, staggers and staggers.
Sometimes we go up and down hills at a pace too fast to keep up with, sometimes at a pace so slow it's annoying.
But we are not born to live only the best days.
I was born to remember a few happy, exciting, and precious moments that suddenly come to mind when I grow old and feel powerless.
And the memory of such moments gives us strength.
---From "All Purposes Under Heaven"
The disciple asked his teacher, the rabbi.
“How can a lowly person like me live like Moses?” the teacher answered his disciple.
“When you die, you won’t be asked, ‘Why didn’t you live like Moses?’
You will be asked, ‘Why couldn’t you live as yourself?’” Yes.
It's not about who we are, it's about what we do in our time.
The time has come.
Now is our time.

Publisher's Review
The miracle of the Word that makes life, which seemed complicated, clear!
Focus on Qoheleth, the Wisdom of Life
Sister Joan Chittister, one of the most noteworthy spiritual writers of the 21st century, shares in her book, “There Is a Time for Everything,” 16 moments in life that she discovered anew from the words of Ecclesiastes (3:1-18) in the Bible.
As time passed, I gradually became aware that these words took on a new tone I had never heard before.
This new realization came suddenly.
Soon, life, which had seemed so complicated, became very clear.
And I realized that life is not made up of separate moments, but rather a drama in which all moments are connected and ultimately completed.
That is why each experience and moment is important.
I hope that through this book, we will delve deeply into all those experiences and moments and make them our own.
Not to know the experience itself, but to know ourselves.
― From 'Times of Life'
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reads:
“To everything there is a season, and a time for every activity under the heaven.
“There is a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.” This is a passage that talks about the different times in life.
The 16 moments of life that the author focuses on, such as 'when we are born, when we lose, when we love, when we laugh, when we are at war, when we heal, when we die, and when we are at peace', are not moments that we pass through once but come repeatedly throughout our lives.
Sister Chittister offers a fresh perspective and insight into how we should accept and spend those moments.
The purpose of this book is to enable even those who have not studied the Bible deeply to consciously and clearly understand Qoheleth, learn his words, and engrave them in their hearts.
By reflecting on your actions based on the Word, you can have an open mind when you encounter the same moment in life again.
― From ‘Preface_Times of Life’
Now is the special time we were born.
The author accepts this era as the special time in which he was born, and states that when we do what we are supposed to do in this time, this era, and this place, we can gain inner freedom and self-esteem, which will enable us to live our lives unwaveringly.
It also tells us that we need to experience failure and frustration.
It's a chance to let go of what we're holding on to, to empty our souls and start over.
And there are times when we have to endure things we want to do, times when we may seem foolish to others.
Only those who realize the freedom not to do can enjoy true happiness.
The author offers advice on the meaning of the various moments in our lives, reflecting on the reality we face today, and delivers a sharp spiritual message.
Thus, it helps us open our hearts and discover for ourselves the meaning contained in the various moments of our lives.
Additionally, various anecdotes and quotes are included throughout the book, allowing you to focus on the story without losing focus for even a moment.
This book, which awakens us to the mission God has given us and the life we should live as ourselves, especially shows us how precious and important this moment is, especially for those of us who tend to view the world dryly and with a narrow perspective.
Isn't that the moment when we humbly and gently accept that there is a time for everything, that is when our happiness begins?
Reading the 16 Hours of Qoheleth, presented with theological insight and grounded in reality by Sister Joan Chittister, author of numerous spiritual books, will enlighten your spiritual eyes.
And you'll notice it right away.
This very moment is the time of salvation, the moment when we must live our best lives, the most beautiful and precious gift that cannot be exchanged for anything else.
We ourselves are the protagonists of life who are rewriting Qohelet.
― Sister Hae-in Lee, poet
Joan Chittister reports
A deep and weighty resonance that breaks the mold of thought
Sister Joan Chittister, author of "There's a Time for Everything," is a Benedictine who has written and lectured for 40 years on the renewal of the church and spiritual growth. She is also a world-renowned spiritual leader who actively works for human rights and peace around the world.
The author's message always contains the attitude of 'be proactive'.
In this book, you can often feel the author's message.
I'm telling you not to turn away from reality even when you know there's a problem, but to recognize the problem in front of you and speak out about it.
He encourages people to take action, noting that doing so will bring them true freedom.
These authors' voices point out the deeply ingrained inertia and wrong attitudes in our lives, and the problems we take for granted.
Perhaps the wisdom of life contained in Qoheleth is so appealing that it awakens us.
Right now, hear the spiritual message of Sister Joan Chittister, who will help you find your true self.
Now is the time to start living my own life, unswayed by anyone or anything.
