Publisher's Review
“Which interview academy did you go to?”
This is what the students in Lee Jeong-yeong's interview class heard from other students who were interviewed with them as they were leaving the interview.
The answer is so obvious that all the test takers before me and after me have given and will give it in front of the interviewers.
Even the slightest difference can grab the interviewer's attention.
The information I easily obtained is something that everyone else already knows.

Police interviews have changed to individual interviews (presentation interview and experience/personality interview).
For experience and personality interviews, you need to organize your experiences.
I will have time to look back on my life so far and organize it by time period.
I need to look back on my life and find and communicate my unique strengths that will allow me to demonstrate my capabilities as a police officer, demonstrating why I am a good fit for the police force.
When going into an interview, everyone says things like, "He's honest" or "He has a strong sense of responsibility," but the key to gaining the interviewer's sympathy is your genuine experience.
You should prepare yourself to imagine your capabilities in public office through your past experiences.

In recent interviews, many questions about job competency are being asked.
You need to prepare in advance because when presented with a specific situation, you will be asked how you would respond as a police officer and what your basis is for acting that way.
As a police officer, you must be interested in and familiar with ethics, legal knowledge, coping skills, policies, and social issues.

Presentation interview...
If you've ever given a presentation in front of a large crowd, you've probably had moments where your hair turned white and your voice trembled.
Unlike studying for written exams, preparing for an interview presentation is something you cannot do without knowing the answer.
Since there is no right answer, you have to convey your thoughts verbally to make the other person understand.

I have 10 minutes to spare!! I need to make a good impression as a suitable candidate within that time.
Putting into words what I know isn't as easy as it sounds.

Just because it's a presentation interview doesn't mean it tests your presentation skills like an announcer.
You should thoroughly understand the existing group interview topics by creating a summary note by topic, and practice speaking about them in your own words.
This textbook provides examples of presentation notes, as well as expected questions and follow-up questions.

This is to assess your capabilities as a police officer, so rather than focusing on speeches, you should be able to analyze and understand the presented problem, even if it is awkward, and present a logical and creative solution.
The important thing is to anticipate and respond well to follow-up questions that may come up after your presentation to get a good grade.

You can grow by practicing taking notes on various expected questions, presenting in front of a large group, and receiving questions and feedback from multiple group members.
I need to be able to deal well with a variety of questions that I don't anticipate.

Now for the interview!! All you have to do is pass this process.

Trust and harmony with study group members are important.
There were also test takers who were so hurt by the feedback from study group members that they stopped attending the academy, lost confidence in interviews, and gave up on the police exam right before the interview.
Some test takers say that the interview is the most difficult part, more so than the written or physical exam.
I have to introduce myself to the interviewers who are determined to evaluate me.
The only way to handle such stressful situations well is to practice.

Social issues and policies that you didn't pay attention to because you were so focused on studying for the exams will also feel vague and unsettling.
This is not just my concern, but also a concern for most test takers.
But they all did so well.

It is true that everything is scary and difficult.
It's just a very small process in my life.

Ask yourself why to the prepared answer.
You will need to look for the information yourself.
This is because it is expressed verbally when there is complete understanding, rather than simply memorizing for multiple choice answers.
Understood content will come out naturally only through speaking practice.
Show your passion and interest in the police!!

If I were the interviewer
Practice questioning and objectifying your own answers.
Be genuine, give an inspiring interview, and make eye contact with your interviewers.
Just show the image of a sincere junior who wants to work together.

I hope you all will do your best until the very end to bring this long journey to a close, imagining yourself in uniform.

What I have felt while teaching interview classes to police exam takers every year since 2015 is that interviews are never about conversion.
You must approach it with humility.
There are no commonly used interrogative pronouns.
An interview is an opportunity for those who are prepared.

I wish you all the best in your exams.
