Shinga contains various elements such as prayers for humans, offerings to gods, shamanistic myths, and songs between gods and humans, and these vary depending on the nature of the gut and the traditions of regional shamanism.
Furthermore, since important elements of gut are transmitted through shamanic songs, shamanic songs play a central role in the continuation and transmission of shamanic traditions.
It is precisely in this respect that we can highlight the significance of these two books, which compile the sacred songs of six representative shamanistic rituals in Seoul.
The sacred songs of the five Seoul rituals, excluding Cheonshin-gut, have never been organized or published before.
Therefore, it is expected that this collection of Seoul Gut songs will be able to make a contribution to correctly understanding and passing down traditional Seoul Gut.
