Picture Book Activity Guide

The 'Picture Book Lovers Teachers' Association', which has been widely promoting the value of lessons using picture books, has compiled 100 activities related to picture books.
It is structured to introduce one activity per picture book, and each activity is explained in detail step by step on how the teacher should lead it from start to finish.
Rather than simply suggesting post-reading activities that cultivate various capabilities such as thinking skills, critical attitudes, and communication skills, we simultaneously discuss and offer solutions to the question of 'how' to make these activities more fun and beneficial.

The lesson plans, divided into five parts: pre-reading activities, writing activities, drawing activities, other activities, and online activities, provide specific and practical guidance to teachers who struggle to prepare quality reading-related activities.
"100 Picture Book Activities" is a book that can be kept by your side and used like a dictionary, from teachers who are just starting their picture book class to veteran teachers who are thinking about new and diverse post-reading activities.

Publisher's Review
“Picture book classes: What should we do and how should we do it?”
Contains the vivid know-how of current teachers
The most comprehensive and practical encyclopedia of activity lessons

The teachers of the Picture Book Lovers Teachers Association, who have carefully selected picture books necessary for educational settings, enriched classes with topics closely related to students' lives, and shared their experiences, have compiled all of their know-how into this one book.
『100 Picture Book Activities』 is a 'class encyclopedia' containing 100 picture books and 100 activity stories.
We introduced the activity and briefly explained its educational impact. We also added a brief story about the book to help readers understand how the activity connects with the content of the picture book.
In particular, it is noteworthy that the scope of picture book selection is broadened by pointing out the characteristics of picture books suitable for each activity through the 'What kind of picture book would be good?' corner for each activity.
Each activity was mostly structured into 3-4 steps, and for each step, the teacher wrote down in detail what to prepare and what to guide students through.
Referencing the lively comments from teachers and students can be a valuable aid in ensuring a smooth learning experience.

Classify activities by type
A structure that makes it easy to find the topic you need

The 'pre-reading activities' covered in the first chapter stimulate students' interest before they even turn the pages, motivating them to read and providing a foundation for them to independently imagine the contents of the book.
In addition to activities such as guessing the title by looking at the cover, imagining the characters, events, and setting, and associating the theme through brainwriting, it also includes activities using interesting techniques such as 'white lies' and 'eraser erasing'.
Pre-reading activities help students overcome their fear or reluctance to read and enter the world of stories.

The 'writing activity' in the next chapter is the basis of the post-reading activity in the Korean language department and is of great importance as it is directly related to literacy, a major topic in the education world.
It provides friendly guidance on the process of writing various types of writing, such as diaries, articles, and book reviews.
Students who feel lost in front of a blank piece of paper can easily think of 'things to write about' related to picture books and take a meaningful first step toward writing a piece.

‘Drawing Activities’ and ‘Other Activities’ are comprised of activities that can develop expressiveness, compositional skills, and artistic sensibility.
We provide time for individuals or groups to develop their aesthetic sense, such as by drawing after-reading impressions, character brain structures, and collaborative drawings.
Another important feature is that it systematically utilizes various thinking techniques such as KWL, window panning, lotus thinking, and visual thinking.
It provides a comprehensive overview of various techniques, tools, and media to help teachers prepare newer and more diverse classes.

The final 'Online Activities' section contains activity classes utilizing online tools, which have become increasingly important due to non-face-to-face classes.
By utilizing familiar tools like Presentation, Padlet, and Jamboard, as well as platforms and programs that enable diverse class activities such as Kahoot, Tuning, and Wordwall, we enable students to approach activities more enjoyably.
Above all, it contains specific instructions so that even teachers who are new to online teaching tools can use it easily and conveniently.

This book presents five distinct sections, each with its own unique style and personality, providing a reliable guide for teachers to select and implement activities appropriate to the topic.
Teachers across the country who want to create fun and creative classes will find a concrete and practical guide in this book.
