Into the book
Our life is like pulling a cart.
The burdens on the cart are work, family, and the weight of life.
The weight of the load is the same, but there are people who are out of breath and struggling to pull the cart.
There are people who drag it along too comfortably.
This difference arises from the presence or absence of attachment in the mind.
--- From "March 9, 'A Life Like Pulling a Cart'"
As you grow, you can do many different things.
It's not just about getting a job as an adult and working until retirement.
There will always be work until the moment you die.
There is no one who does not have work.
Work is any action that benefits someone other than yourself.
It is an action that must be done and there is no choice.
--- From "April 16, 'There is work until the moment of death'"
The conclusion reached after a fierce debate is, in fact, nothing more than 'another opinion.'
It's just that old thoughts disappear from your mind and new ones appear.
The Buddha said, “It is impossible to reach the ultimate truth through argument.”
We are concerned with the limitations and high risks of debate.
You need to understand it properly.
--- From "August 12, 'Disagreement is the Root of Fighting'"
The thought that 'If I suffer now, I will be happy later'
In fact, there is no guarantee that you will be happy.
There is no other way to be happy than ‘now’.
The person who found happiness here and now
I know how to be happy in the next moment.
That person already has happiness in his hands, without having to wait for the reward of long efforts.
--- From "September 22nd, 'There is no other way to be happy 'now'"
Impermanence is the truth that infinite possibilities exist.
All phenomena are impermanent.
Because it changes every moment.
Because everything changes, we can say, 'It is', 'It exists'.
There is nothing that does not change.
We too are being reborn as a new self every time we breathe in or out.

Buddha, humanity's greatest teacher
As told by a Sri Lankan Buddhist elder,
One word from Buddha to read every day
No matter how hard you try to live each day, you can't prevent the unexpected worries and pain that come your way.
As life becomes more complex and confusing, we tend to turn to the most universal teachings to soothe our weary bodies and minds.
When it comes to the 'Teacher of Humanity' who transcends history, nationality, and religion and gives us universal guidance on life, it is Buddha who can be cited as the undisputed leader.
Recently, the American daily newspaper The New York Times has focused on the so-called "hip Buddhism" craze, which is a shift from the perception that Korean Buddhism is old-fashioned and difficult to understand to a more modern and accessible one.
This shows the hearts of modern people who, in an increasingly fast-paced and bleak era, seek inner peace through Buddhism, which neither forces nor forces others to take sides.
『One Page of Buddha's Teachings a Day』 is a book in which the author, an elder in the Sri Lankan Buddhist community, has refined the teachings of Buddha from Buddhist scriptures such as the 『Dhammapada』, 『Auspicious Sutra』, 『Anavatara Sutra』, 『Sagam Sutra』, and 『Mati Sutra』, and conveyed them in a way that is suitable for modern people.
It preaches one page a day of Buddha's philosophy that can be easily applied in daily life, such as 'Illness is an opportunity', 'A person who does not think is wise', 'Concentrate on the present moment', and 'Let us treasure the small acts of the moment'.
It contains short stories for 366 days, twelve months of the year, so you can savor one story a day.
The main teaching of Buddha is to focus on the present self and find happiness in each moment, rather than worrying about or becoming depressed over the problems that arise every day.
We often think of Buddha as a divine being on an unreachable cloud, but in fact, thousands of years ago, he too was a human being who constantly pondered the question of 'how to live.'
That is why Buddha's philosophy has been a strong guide to our lives across time and space to this day.
This book is organized chronologically, but you can read it in any order you like.
If you have the heart to pursue a better path, the Buddha's valuable teachings await you wherever you go.
